Horological Meandering

I decided to borrow from my wife and tryout the Apple watch today... Are there purists who use Apple watch regularly or double wrist with mechanical watches ? share your thoughts / feeling.... as i enjoy mechanical objects much more, i personally realize ...  

but if i may...what is the 'breaking point' ?

If I want something versatile with battery I would always go with Gshock and its extra tactical toughness. The only think it adds different value is in health and sport. But in this scenario I choose garmin ruggedness

IMHO it is actually a sublime and calming moment when we look at our favorit watch while putting away all our gadget.

is it purely a question of redundancy ?

Let's make a deal, wife can have as many phone as she wants vv we can have as many watch as we want. 👍👍

Dear Manix, the best health monitoring "device" is yourself. Be alive, wake up, eat well, move around, love, cry and appreciate that your are able to do all these! If by then you do need a "monitoring device" then see a doctor. Cheers, Francois

Not convinced for a couple of reasons : 1. It is uncomfortable for me to have a “watch” on my right wrist for long periods of time 2. I kept forgetting to charge it every night 3. It was strange having the screen light up every time I moved my wrist and w...

Dont get me wrong it is a unique tech but in my case I would rather use the apple watch money to buy better smart phone biennial.

still we love a mech. watch, a 'mono-functional device' (pretty much) because it is a connection to past... where as Apple is multi-functional, but connecting to future + avg of all functions - may be !

there is something 'ticking' about the mechanical watch that is indeed connecting at emotional level than just a tool ! there are days i forget my phone at home & i don't take the pain to come back to pick it...but never with a watch - it is on my wrist a...

i hear repeatedly about Garmin watch...seems to be a good activity watch.

The iWatch is no where near the Garmin in terms of sports/activity watch IMO

It’s a computer that you wear on your wrist. I think it’s a matter of time before mechanical watchmakers start building that kind of technology into the bracelet part of the watch so that people can have both I’m kind of surprised they haven’t done it or ... 

A small Bluetooth touch device where the clasp is...maybe solar...just enough...heart rate location etc...best of both worlds automatic reliability data connectivity...especially for sport watches.

why waste your wrist time with computers when you can have calibers?

some days i wonder i'll get back to a 3310...no battery issues, no breaking issues & works the best for calling - the only trouble is wristshots ;-)

There's always your other wrist for a watch rather than a mini computer. I've seen plenty of people do that. I just wear to watches at once - mainly as I have too many! Cheers JML

i was walking thro' last week on the streets & quite strikingly i saw almost 7/10 ppl had it on the wrist...of course they're younger & we're wiser ;-) that is what triggered my thought...still i'm loyal to mechanical watches

Apple did an amazing job; the case, the way the straps can be changed, their steel bracelet, and the various dials are all great features. I double-wrist not often but do wear the watch often in the gym and during walks. Loaded with about 15 CD's and conn... 

as i mentioned in the post...even to try it for a day - it was a big wall that i've to jump over on my mind. i think it has features that are too different value set but the heartbeat of the mechanical timepiece is in deed hard to beat Best, mahesh.,

My Casio i usually wear when hiking or jogging.... A lot of people around me have apple watch and they surely do love it! I must say though i am more on the side of Android and CASIO. I dont like "charging" my watches. My Casio's are solar driven and have...  

i think one such timepiece as a beater is good to have. the pain i saw trying today was the distraction with it...alerts - i couldn't complete my trial the full day. Best, mahesh.,

As any other quartz or mechanical timepiece. Even with the other functions, it still tell the time on or off a Network.

i think partly because of the easiness to manage & partly most watch brands have very weak portfolio of mechanical watches for women. Best, mahesh.,

second year, and social activities outside the house being very limited, I’ve been wearing my Apple watch more regularly and especially when cycling/exercising. So much so, my other watches have been in the bank since! 🤣 I use the watch to monitor my hear... 

it seems on the sports/activity tracking few people switch to apple watch & come back to mechanical marvels for all other occasions. there are almost not many who double wrist ! hope to see you in next GTG...once things become normal. cdt, mahesh.,

I think it was developed by people who missed living at home with someone to tell them what to do with themselves. It is excellent at fulfilling that mission. No offense meant to anyone using one, nor anyone who thinks I am anti-Apple. I have currently 10...

I don't have any because of privacy concerns, but I have no doubt that they represent this generation's technological leap forward in wristwatches. 'Twas a time when clockmakers added a minute hand to their timekeeping contraptions and upset traditionalis...

It is the modern tool watch. You can turn off all notifications if you wish, or have it buzz constantly- it is up to you. Best of all, I seldom carry my phone anymore and my screen time has gone down dramatically because of this. And it is a great all-rou...
