But mine was an automatic. Was pretty accurate. I gave it to my farm caretaker. Sad to hear your issue. That's the reason i only collect mechanical watches. I shun away from quartz. Their a waste of money. My opinion. Geross.

I also dislike quartz watches a lot, but she really does not want to wear anything too costly, so my options were limited. I explored the Dan Henry/Baltic-type low-cost start-ups, but they seem to be pose an equal risk in terms of avoiding trouble/repairs... 

Quartz watches can be good when chose a good watch. I had a mechanical watch which was damaged by my fault. It was three months away for repairing. Buying a bad quartz watch and buying a bad mechanical watch is for me the same, bad watches. It’s all about...

Sorry to hear that. I think I will buy my wife a different, analogue watch if it gets to that. My patience is running thin.
