Buying Pre Owned: What's To Prevent Stores From Reselling New Watches as "Pre-Owned" With Markups?

It's a bit inconceivable for some... But it makes sense overall. Let's hypothetically say I'm a privately owned jewelry store. I sell new watches and new jewels. I also have an "estate jewelry" display case filled with second hand watches and jewels. And ...

This scene is exactly....

I’ve also heard some AD owner keep all the inventories in their safe …

Lots of conflicts of interests!

Totally the wild west, I honestly don't understand how to buy a watch today. Small and large dealers, all are trying to maximize profit in an environment where the customer doesn't care about MSRP and if we they don't, the dealers won't either. The whole ...

Your'e late to the party....

From what I've heard, some are already doing this specific "trick". Not for all but, As ugly as it gets, those among us who lives in la la land and working on the "relations" missed reading the change in the market, Dealers are cashing as much as they can...

You are correct. This is no new phenomenon...

But now, they've got this whole new consumer, a consumer that's been conditioned to buy "Pre Owned" and "Estate" watches. A new market that doesn't mind to buy a second-hand item whereas in the past, this market didn't really exist. So now, there's even m...
