Would it be so bad to have one??

 By: Thomas_3 : April 2nd, 2021-14:46
A quartz watch that is. I am considering adding a quartz watch to the collection. Nothing fancy, just something I can strap on for the weekends, or when everything else has stopped running and I don't want to wind and set. I saw a Longines VHP GMT posted ...

I have a couple quartz watches, mostly inexpensive funky vintage pieces, just because of the look.

But I do have a tungsten carbide and 18K Rado from 1999. Being TC it's practically indestructible although very heavy for it's size. Still looks like the day I bought it. ...

Quartz is great! I have several.

The only reason to avoid a watch because it's quartz is snobbery.

Buy it, just don't tell anybody.

Nothing wrong with quartz...

quartz is certainly part of the history of horology. I would not mind owning a Girard Perregaux with the Caliber 350 or Beta 21 movement. ...

I have a few quartz pieces. They’re easy to grab and go.

Another inexpensive, but nicely styled line of quartz watches is Dan Henry. He also happens to be a prolific watch collector, and uses iconic watch styles from his collection to inspire his quartz line. I love wearing the 1962 panda. A great watch for kno...

Get a Gshock, preferably Tough Solar

I plan to wear mine through the zombie apocalypse .

I tend to like all kinds of watches.

For quartz, I like Grand Seiko. They use thermocompensated movements and high quality cases, dials, and hands. The GMT model is especially nice. Certina makes an excellent thermocompensated chronograph, the Precidrive DS-2. They have other models with les...

I have several, mostly G-Shock and Swatch but also some Seiko Tunas.

 By: Jay (Eire) : April 2nd, 2021-18:44
The Tunas were on the expensive side (relatively) when I bought them many years ago. Both batteries have ran out and of course I have yet to make the change. THIS is the biggest drawback for me, not that the watch may need a battery but more that I will j...

It’s not THAT hard to get a battery changed

I have a few quartz watches

 By: rnaden : April 2nd, 2021-21:41
I don’t see anything wrong with that - some argue that it has no soul, but I personally think that’s a personal opinion, as there are a lot of nice quartz watches that are immaculately made and also take years of development by the watchmakers. FPJourne a...

A great comment

Agree. And sure, a quartz can have a soul. I discovered my watch have it. I think it is a total package of a watch that brings the soul to a peace. Let’s say, if the build quality is good and it fits the owner good on the wrist, the good match brings the ...

If your a watch guy it wouldn’t matter if its a Quartz or automatic or electric watch .

At least I don’t mind , its all about the watch itself imo . I recently added a few Casioak watches and love them .

I own two. One from Bruno Söhnle Glashütte and a second from Philippe D'Arsy Paris that is a dual timer. Both are dress watches on leather straps.

 By: Uncle Chico : April 3rd, 2021-00:57
The Bruno Söhne is for events when I want to avoid attention. The dual timer is for destinations where I'm cautious about security. I hang both from hooks in my dressing room to serve as clocks when I'm not wearing them.

I can give you advice

When choosing a Longines Conquest V.H.P. The most important to measure your wrist. Take attention of the size. The straps: Not only looks, wear comfort is important. A bracelet, rubber or leather, try all the possibilities. The Conquest have pushpins for ...

It’s terrible to have one...
