Shocked!!

Jul 31, 2009,20:57 PM

Hi Mike, Words fail me after reading your note. I guess it wasn't an easy decision from you and the mgmt. This page has been my bookmark for the longest time. Only recently I have been away due to work commitments....sigh. It seems like just yesterday we were making arrangements for a trip to J*D....... You have and always will be a good friend. Say "hi" to the family ;-) One last time of my favourite

We might not have been quite so surprised if it were something like HW, perhaps, where the last on-topic post is a few months old, but the content of the J*D forum has always reflected the pace of movement in the brand's development, and always included i...

Thank you for that wonderful send off.

I'll always be at your service even if the J*D tab is not available. Conside me your J*D concierge Love your boys! Cheers, MIke

As Mike's friend and colleague, I, too, am saddened . . .

Dear Mike, Very sad to hear, and I haven’t even got around to purchasing a J*D timepiece yet! You and others did a great job managing the Forum and it was always a pleasure to dip in there as the focus was so different from other horology houses. Can the ...

Hi Andrew, never worry...

 By: mkt33 : August 1st, 2009-14:42
I'm not sure about accessibility of the J*D archives. But like pplater, I remain at service to all my PuristS friends. Feel free to always ask me privately or post a question on HoME. The J*D forum was special from the very start. IMHO it was the first Pu...

Always sad to close a forum, but hopefully, it will re open in a close future! Well, you still are a Moderator on the Montblanc forum, aren't you? Moderation takes a lot of time, indeed, but your work was very appreciated. I had pleasure to read your thre...

An interesting difference, Amanico - in English we might use the saying: "This is not goodbye, just au revoir " - the very words that first came to mind when Mike posted his message! So, do you not have any J*D photos in that vast archive of yours which y...

Damn English

 By: amanico : August 1st, 2009-03:53
I meant that it wasn't an " Au Revoir " because, to me, Mike doesn't leave the boat... Best, borat... This message has been edited by amanico on 2009-08-01 03:56:46

:-) Nicolas, the sheer volume of your posts put me to shame

 By: mkt33 : August 1st, 2009-14:45
I certainly am not worthy In fact you've discovered my secret plan...by shedding J*D I can now post twice as much on Montblanc to match you! Warmest regards, Mike

Mike, thanks for everything...

most importantly the picture of your new baby's J*D wristshot. Stay strong Kevin, you made the right choice. J*D will always be unique amongst all the brands. Best, Mike

The suspension/closing of the J*D forum represents a large loss for

 By: Carol : August 1st, 2009-09:29
the Purists community as a whole and for J*D owners in particular. This is a very sad turn of events. Thank you for your service to the Forum, Mike. Best Regards Carol

Hi Carol, you must know how difficult this was for me.

 By: mkt33 : August 1st, 2009-15:01
Whenever a door closes, another one opens. I think the J*D spirit will continue to live on HoME. I can only see the PuristSPro community growing stronger and stronger each day. Looking forward to seeing you soon....it is long overdue. Best, Mike

I always enjoyed your genuine enthusiasm for the brand. . .

 By: GregE : August 1st, 2009-10:15
and willingness to call it as you see it. Sorry to hear that circumstances got in the way. I imagine it wasn't an easy decision. Greg

Thanks Greg. It was not always an easy decision to "call it as I saw it"

 By: mkt33 : August 1st, 2009-15:04
but I'm glad to stand up for the ideals which make this site unique amongst all other web sites. Thank you always for your support. Cheers, Mike

My Sports Watch just arrived yesterday....I'm so sad

 By: Larry Seiden : August 1st, 2009-17:37
I've been a big supporter of the forum and the efforts of all the mods. So a big thank you to them. However, I'm sad to see the forum has lost its credability among Purists. Emanuel Emch and the crew were big supporters of the forum and it was a great pla...

Larry, closing the J*D forum does NOT mean J*D has lost its credibility with PuristS

 By: AnthonyTsai : August 1st, 2009-21:40
What it means is since Mike is stepping down as moderator, PPro management was faced with the decision of whether or not we want to keep the J*D forum open. With no moderator and diminishing traffic in the J*D forum, it was a tough choice to make but PPro...

Don't worry, be happy! I would with a new SW strapped to my wrist

 By: mkt33 : August 2nd, 2009-13:30
Congrats Larry. You were one of the first to purchase a Paillonnee (if not the first in the USA). I'll have to second Anthony's thoughts. There is not a loss of credibility to the brand but a lack of traffic to the forum. I shoulder and fully accept the r...

Hi Moses, access is temporary ...

disrupted. I think our IT team is working to move all the J*D posts. Check back again a couple of days later. Kong

Mike is still here, Moses, manning the rudder at the Montblanc forum . . .

 By: Dr No : August 1st, 2009-22:31
. . . he can't get away that easy! As for the forum archives, they have been sealed and will likely remain so unless the forum is revived . . . even a closed forum requires allocation of scarce resources. Cordially, Art

Thank you Mike....

 By: Kong : August 1st, 2009-20:43
for all the fantastic work put into the J*D forum. I will remember it is the J*D forum that shows the work behind enamel dials. Thank You! Kong

Mike, it is sad to hear about your departure and J*D forum suspension.

Very sad news, Mike

 By: Emmanuel H : August 2nd, 2009-12:02
