Sorry to hear about the difficult journey in getting your watch fixed. I'm also from the SF Bay Area and only trust 2 watchmakers in the area and both are located in the city.

It’s almost as if he was overcome with cuiriosoty and took apart for taking it apart sake. I used to do that when i was 8. Wheeew... that was an expensive lesson my friend, i trust it will all work out.

That's why I don't buy from independents. They were close eventually. Who's qualified to do the job then? Will they have parts? Jim

I know how it feels, when a watch is not working, I´m do not feel well or really bad! This is why i buy watches without problems. This watch here, tourbillon, jumping i dont know, and other crazy things, it is preprogrammed, that this is a short enjoyment...

independent that had a problem. I was advised by the watchmaker in Switzerland to send it to someone specific in the States (a different person for sure). The watch was sent. After a period of time of hearing nothing, I called the watchmaker and was infor... 

I agree with your points about not being put off buying from independent manufacturers.

the smart A••,i ve already learnt that the best solution not always the most cost effective solution .I feel sorry for you but i think now you know costs of shipping and customs not even close to the damage that a local chap could make.:-( Pls tell me bas... 

... Any one of the parts could be damaged in just the smallest way and the movement wont run. If the person who stupidly disassembled the timepiece did even the smallest amount of damage to a part, no dice.

When seeing all parts in the box when only crystal, dial and hands would have been removed to get start with it. I hope this will have a happy end.
