And Van Leeuwen, a New York based ice cream store has an Earl Grey Tea flavor that I really like too. They don't consider themselves Gelato. But they're still fairly dense.

I guess it's kind of like don't drive a fancy bright yellow Ferrari into a really bad neighborhood... You may get unwanted attention. But... If one cannot enjoy a Rolex in a good neighborhood like Danville - that's really bad news. Then again, Highland Pa... 

There’s a lot to unpack here and these type of stories. 1) Rolex became a stock which can very easily be non traced converted into cash. 2) watches are unlike ever before which used to be a tool, now it’s a symbol of wealth and a jewelry. 3) driving flash... 

Rolexes are indeed virtually liquid like cash. And I agree to all of your statements. Danville is mostly conservative, I would guess. But still. California is overall fairly liberal. But I hear people in San Francisco are so fed up with the crime that the...

I just have a sub which is not even near my most expensive watches. But it gets the most attention so I find myself not wearing it, which is silly since it is a quality sports watch. I don't like watch attention good or bad. Other than an enthusiast comme... 

The first watch I bought in my early 20s with my first series of many paychecks (it took more than one paycheck) was worn as a daily wearer watch for many years. Unfortunately, it recently became a popular piece and now it's recognized. I understand your ...

I was a bit surprised too! Newport Beach is a nice and safe neighborhood, but it's also a flashy neighborhood, so that flash brings its own troubles. Danville, unlike Newport Beach, isn't particularly flashy.

How many of us would have started collecting if this was a common occurrence 20, 40, 40 years ago. And what happens now? Do people never wear their expensive pieces in public? Do passionate collectors stop collecting?

Who knows... And how bad does this get? Will I be robbed in the future, walking into a restaurant, because many patrons of this restaurant carry expensive bottles of wine into the restaurant? Wine is fairly liquid (I don't mean literally) and convertible ... 

Do not buy a watch without box and papers. And if a watch or watches have box and papers, check if the papers are real and not copied. Watermarks, matching numbers. I know there are watch buyers who do not need box and papers. But giving criminals no chan... 

Nobody buys a car without paperwork. Back to watches. Completeness is always fine. Sure, i do not watch my watch boxes how nice they are. I use one of my wax boxes for little daily stuff, cause it is a handy box.

Never used to feel worried about wearing any nice timepiece. Best to hide a nice watch if in SF these days. It is really sad to see how crime-ridden even the nicer suburbs have become.
