Another Rolex Robbery in Walnut Creek...

 By: patrick_y : July 20th, 2022-01:50
More bad news... Stay safe folks! FYI, Walnut Creek is adjacent to Danville, where I posted another watch robbery incident that happened earlier this month! And Walnut Creek and Danville are both considered upscale cities known for good schools and good s...

Very sad news.

And even sadder that it happened so soon after the July 7th robbery. Just terrible! I feel sad for fellow watch enthusiasts who are being targeted and being denied the pleasure of wearing and enjoying their beautiful watches. I hope the crime wave in the ...

Indeed!

Far too prevalent at this point in time. Stay sharp and stay safe guys! As the TV host says, better to leave the Rolexes at home! Cheers, Filip

But if I can't wear a nice watch in a nice town like Walnut Creek or Beverly Hills... Then it's going to be really hard to find a time to wear those nice watches!

Also, what’s the point of even owning a nice watch if you cannot wear it out?

Stay vigilant but continue to use what you bought is my belief.

I'm not sure vigilance is enough...

The problem is that the thieves are now targeting the "middle class" with Rolex and not just the upper class. Walnut Creek is an upper middle class enclave, the town even had its own Neiman Marcus department store at one time. In Walnut Creek, the most po...

I think my point is..

If it ever got to the point where I can only wear my watches in my house and not outside for fear of theft. I would rather just sell all of them and be done with it as the enjoyment factor would get reduced to nothing. I'm just not there yet and it would ...

I understand.

Let's hope we don't get there. But I will say, crime in many major cities have simply become a laughing matter. Criminals are so emboldened and unafraid of getting caught because they've done the same crime 20 times without any consequence. It's not just ...

Like I mentioned to you privately, my latest security job is exactly in and around the BH triangle, now including occasionally all of BH city limits - in direct collaboration with the BHPD. I am both anxious and curious to witness in person how things are...

Wonderful, so they can tell you..

Good news we’ve identified who stole your watch. Bad news we won’t arrest and prosecute because it’s California and this doesn’t fall high enough on the totem pole for us to care. But hey, don’t the cameras make you feel safer?

x)))

Better hide the Vicuna too!

I think thieves recognize cashmere sweaters and wool flannel pants now. Don't ask me how I know!

Not like the PNW is any safer..

Property theft and crime is up like 30% in Seattle. I’m not a physicist but I can safely tell you we are not following the correct vector. But until leadership changes, nothing changes.

Even with leadership change, change will be very slow and anemic...

San Francisco recalled its District Attorney. Mr. Boudin was an unusual choice for a district attorney. He served under the Hugo Chavez Administration. His parents were bank robbers, although we shouldn't hold the son accountable for the parent's crimes. ...

True, change does take time and it does not happen over night.

Personally, I don't put too much credence on where people went to school. I graduated from an Ivy league school and there were quite a few people that I would not consider intelligent in my graduating class. As you alluded to, the problem is if laws are n...

True!

I've met some pretty dumb Ivy League graduates. And I've met some awfully smart kids from lesser schools. And I'm reminded that Larry Ellison, Gates, Zuckerberg, and multiple billionaire tech titans actually didn't even finish college! Good point! The Dis...

Crime is everywhere for sure

When I lived in California I seemed to be around more serious crimes. Here, tweekers looking for unlocked car doors for change and backpacks is one thing but armed robbery in supposedly “nice areas” for me in a state you’re not allowed to defend yourself ...

Great points!

Stick an AirTag on it!

 By: patrick_y : July 20th, 2022-16:19

Stick it on dial side or case back?😂

The situation could have been worse as the robbers followed the victim home. Most of us are just “wearing our watches”, not flaunting and it is sad that we will have to be conscious about what watch to wear or not to wear depending on what we do and where...

Long sleeves are advised!

Rolex needs to incorporate a satellite activated locator mechanism into their watches.

Or maybe an auto-destruct device. They can figure it out.

It's not enough to be aware of surroundings and avoid bad areas.

Thieves are targeting hotels, restaurants, country clubs etc., where affluent people gather under the assumption that a patron will be wearing a high-end watch.

You got it!

 By: patrick_y : July 20th, 2022-16:20
The thieves have gotten smart! Unfortunately.

So disheartening!

I am currently in Beverly Hills and yesterday in a shop the salesperson told me to be aware and not too flashy. Apparently a few attempted robberies happened in the last couple of weeks. It’s true that nowhere is safe anymore and we can’t take it for gran...

But what's considered flashy?

 By: patrick_y : July 24th, 2022-04:59
Is wearing Cucinelli flashy? Yes. Wearing something with big logos is definitely loud. But is elegant attire flashy? It's sometimes hard to not be a target too!

Unless the robbers are totally “in the know”

 By: Centurionone : July 24th, 2022-15:25
wearing Cuccinelli is 💯 safe I am sure . You can’t get more understated than that. I guess flashy is anything that screams logo, which I never like anyway. Goyard used to be under the radar but it’s getting recognised a lot lately
