probably not, as aesthetics mean more to me in a wrist watch.

while Spring Drive is Seiko's mechanical automatic movement with a quartz oscillator instead of a balance and hairspring. Two different companies and tech.

The technologies are addressing different aspect of watchmaking, so I don't think they are competitors.

Now even a genuine passion for watches, that many decent men and women around the world should feel proud to share, is exploited by some brand and "tied down" into moral confusion and political correctness... Let me join you here, in this beautiful year 2... 

How is this better than a satellite connected watch for a lot less money? I get a solar powered quartz watch for $300... but not for $16,000!

I agree there is some impressive technology there. Also didn't realize that that particular version (for $16,000) was gold. Might be worth the high prices (various versions at different price points) if ultimate accuracy is your goal. Asthetically I feel ... 

And I am not out enough to keep one charged up. Also cannot justify the high prices

Is it better? That depends on your criteria. But they are very different creatures.

This watch doesn't have an alluring dial when compared to an Eichi. If it has a beautiful dial and half the price, I will consider.

What a technical marvel and achievement. Like wearing an atomic clock on your wrist. Kudos to Citizen 👍. I would definitely add this to my collection.

And Hoptroff does not make watches, anymore.

Totally absurd pricing... Zzzzzzzz, I could not be less interested in ANY quartz watch.... Design is clean, very nice, but above 500-600? NEVVVVER.

Technically, obviously it is interesting and it is an achievement. However, i don't get its purpose as a wrist watch. If one loves mechanical systems, then one would get a mechanical watch. If one loves accuracy and one lives in the covered zone, then one...

But they will only be making 100 of this, so Citizen is aware of the limited appeal. Cost is also partially justified by the fact it's a precious metal. The titanium version is produced in greater number and less than half price.

This new tech to be hundreds anytime soon.
