Rolex Datejust 116233 becomes Grand Seiko SBGA231

First better watch was a fluted bezel Two-tone Rolex Datejust with Jubilee purchased New Year's Eve 2004/2005 to celebrate my starter-marriage divorce.  Last week I traded it- even value- cashless transaction - at an AD for a new Titanium Grand Seiko Diver.

In my own lunchbox, I think I am a genius and everyone else who is not in the hobby thinks I am a moron.  But next time I leave the watch in a hotel or a nightstand that maybe is not so familiar to me (uh oh)- it is likely to come back to me.  Never serviced the Rolex and it still was running at +2.  Grand Seiko is +1 TOTAL for the first 10 days.

The main impetus was with 50 yr old guy eyes, I couldn't read the 36 MM Rolex so easily- especially at night- which is an important requirement for me as I commute to Japan and am often jetlagged or go camping a bit when I am in California.

My last trade was 6 years ago-traded a Panerai 048 for a Omega Planet Ocean 42 MM with black dial and orange accents.  Couldn't wear a dress shirt over the Panerai- too much height.  Planet Ocean has good legibility day and night but the crown has been stripped twice in the last 18 months.  Still have it, but now with the Titanium GS, the Omega feels heavy.

This leaves me with a Ball Engineer Master II and a Hanhart Sirius for me to leverage.  Local AD says he is not "feeling it" on the Hanhart- but when they do pop up they are often well priced.  Would like to turn those to into a Railmaster....We'll see....
