After setting the time and/or date how tight should the crown be screwed down? Thumb tight??

Best not to use pliers 😉...I tighten only a small pinch after it has stopped turning - enough to add pressure to the rubber 'o' ring but not to distort it. [nt]

same as for the winding mechanism at non automatic movements. You just stop after you sense resistance... 😉 [nt]
