I’m also not a big fan of Breitling but this watch was given to me by someone who had no use for it. So now I’m trying to learn more about it.

This was a limited edition from the 1990's, I believe. I remember when these came out. This is authentic, but not exactly vintage. More like a "new" vintage assembled much later. Breitling made a few different models using vintage movements at that time. ...

It looks all correct to me. 1940 is the reference number.

A vintage movement ( Venus 195 ) housed in a more modern watch circa 1980 / 1990. It seems it is a limited edition of 50 pieces. Best, Nicolas

Yup, these were limited editions in the late 80s. My understanding is that when Ernest Schneider bought the company he found a bunch of NOS movements in the basement and had them recased in a vintage tribute of sorts. I actually hunted down some material ...

Thank you very much for the feedback and yours looks great It looks like it’s coming together, the older movement, yet the more 80’s style elements. You mentioned Breitling Archives; you mean like records held at Breitling itself?
