My long-overdue thanks to SteveG. Anyone else inspired by him?

I was thinking back to a time 15+ years ago when I would religiously visit SteveG's Watch Launchpad to drool over his photos, read his pithy reviews and observations, and then try to talk myself out of buying watches that I knew were in my destiny. In par...

You are not alone!

I spent much time there as well. Terrific photos of an excellent diversity of watches. True connoisseur choices at a time when many of them were not market-driven hot commodities. Thanks, Steve G (and CR for the reminder)! John

Thank You for posting this. I was not.aware of Steve Gs work

Each photo lets his passion shine and his photographic skills make each ruby really transparent, each gilded bridge litterally shine... I am thankful and have much respect for his sharing of his passion It is quite the opposite of much horology-related me...

I did not see his work until much more recently

But I still find the launchpad to be a really fabulous source.

You are not alone Craig.

ā€¦.and still just as relevant today. Saying that, this site also has some equally knowledgeable and creative horological heavyweights who never cease to amaze šŸ‘

Steve G was an influencer . . .

 By: Dr No : February 8th, 2022-18:20
. . . before the term was coined. Several of the watches in my collection are in Steve's, and I saw them all there first. Omega chronometers of various stripes, to be sure, but there's an outlier as well. [watch and photo credit: Dr No, 2008] Steve's RGM ...

Yes. He is the OG!

I still, to this day, use his site has a reference. He had stuff way, way before most knew it existed. The guy knows watches. Like REALLY knows watches.

Ahhh yes

Now roughly 10 years later the issue isnā€™t monetary, it is being able to find one! Best of luck if youā€™re searching for one too

He has cost me a fortune!

At least $25Gs attributable to SteveG, and that was "back in the olden days" Mike

Was certainly awed by his pics back then. One of those OG horo internet greats alongside..

The likes of Chuck Maddox, heck, TM (Thomas Mao), etc.

Although he was a bit controversial from what I gather

 By: takman : February 9th, 2022-11:35
Iā€™d add Bernard Cheong to the list as well.

Oh yes :-)

Wow!

 By: takman : February 9th, 2022-14:50
I did not know that Nicolas. Come to think of it, you should also be on the list! You have undoubtedly had the Vlad effect on many members.

Oh my, of course!!

It is always good to state the obvious...

 By: eklektik : February 9th, 2022-23:08
... because it is not obvious to everyone!! I didn't know this website and after spending some time on it looking at these very nice shots, I was very happy to read the section on the MUT34 platinum. The close ups of the movement, which is the same as in ...

He fascinated me. A lot!
