First, a technical prototype of a career-defining watch by a modern master begs no excuses, and I'm not even a Journe fan. I'd wear this in an instant after a factory service to ensure it's working as intended.
Besides, "unfinished" describes virtually every vintage diver, every Breguet Type XX, all Rolex sports watches, every pre-1998 Fifty Fathoms, and 99% of the antique pilot's watches built during the 20th century. Self-conscious decoration of all watches all the time is a modern phenomenon. Aside from PP/VC/AP and a few boutique brands, most twentieth century watches were finished only in the technical sense of being clean and well-adjusted.
Best,
Tim
