Soliciting owners’ reviews of the Longines Heritage Classic Sector Dial: talk me off the ledge, or tell me to take the leap of faith.

I have an opportunity to buy this timepiece from an AD at a decent price. I had been drawn to the piece ever since it was launched, but every time that I saw it in the metal, the case finishing and strap left me cold. I’m not expecting it to be a dufour s...

Really should

have been a hand wound movement

I, too, love this particular Longines...

I’ve thought about purchasing it many times. I ultimately bought a Baltic HMS to satisfy the Sector dial itch. Maybe check it out and see how you like it?

Thanks for the suggestion. Beautiful as well, and a good value proposition.

How’s the movement? Never handled a miyota before.

Actually and purely based on aesthetics...

The Baltic can be a little nicer. The dial is cleaner (no sub-dial and broken 6) and the hands are a little prettier as well. As to Miyota, I've had a couple and never had an issue with them. Can't say that Miyota is better or worse than an average ETA or...

totally agree with India Whiskey Charlie on 6

but I am not happy with automatic (even worse underlined) on the Baltic

True! "Automatic" + underlined is not desirable either...

But, how ironic is it that they added "Manuel" in French on their chronograph 002? 😁 ...

Wow. They are so good 🤡🤣

I've been asking the same questions about the Marine National

Haven't gotten answers yet, either!

I don’t have it but this is a nice looking longine

This one is so nice in the metal. Agree with the straps, but its very easy to get a better one.

Below 2k even with silicium build in the movement, it really is a no brainer just because of the dial and the simplicity. Agree that hand wound would be better, but this is just not realistic. Even the 5296 or the JLC sector did not had that. Id take the ...

+1

Plus one

Dear Hussam, IMHO

I never would buy a watch if something about it „leaves me cold“ or „bothers me“. So - for me - you have already answered your question yourself. Leave it and save the money for a watch that you really love and that makes your heart beat faster every time...

Totally agree.

If there are things that bother you, you might like it for a week or month, but long term you seem to have answered the question for yourself already. Best, AH

Yep. 100% agree. I act the same!

Love the dial and the hands! The movement is great! The deal breacker for me was the case (too)... 🤷🏼‍♂️

Sounds like you [eventually] opted to not get it.

 By: Lankysudanese : December 31st, 2020-07:16
Any regrets?

No 🤷🏼‍♂️☺️

 By: MCG (Markus) : January 1st, 2021-05:40

It’s very good!

 By: Bounce781 : December 30th, 2020-17:11
I owned it but flipped it later. It is very charming - definitely worth having ...

have you thought about JLC Sector ?

 By: Gelato Monster : December 30th, 2020-18:32
They are 25th Anni Edition so i presume would be quite limited. Personally the sector geographique is my favorite, then the sector chronograph . I dont like the date period. ...

Those are the coolest sector dials.

By: India Whiskey Charlie : December 30th, 2020-18:48

yes chrono and geographique are changing position 1,2.

 By: Gelato Monster : December 30th, 2020-22:42
NoDate could have been the true no 1👌👌

Agreed!

Before you decide, please also think about the Patek 5296G with the sector dial

Regarding a review of the Longines, a few were posted earlier this year, including one posted by myself.

Thanks. Will check it out.

 By: Lankysudanese : December 31st, 2020-01:45
The Patek is in a different price bracket. Need deep pockets for that 😁

I love it

 By: Jurry : December 31st, 2020-02:08
That sector dial is very attractive. It reminds me bit off the sector dial in the JLC series. Congrats wear it in good health

If you're really wanting a mix of brushed and polished surfaces...

I've been impressed with the quality of watches from Vario, and their current offering is quite along the lines of the Longines. ...
