My wife has the disease big time…

Sep 23, 2021,02:54 AM

So much so that she forwards me watches she likes on IG on a daily basis. It all started when I convinced her to wear my PANERAI, then later my Rolex. She then went on to buy a Peter Speake Marin for herself as her very first watch and this year she picked up the Breguet. When I get a little tired of my own watches I can now go buy a wife sized and colored strap and get to enjoy it on her as well such as my Grand Seiko. It’s great having her on board with my obsession and gets excited about whatever it I might have lined up next. Lucky me!

Sharing timepieces with our significant others (SO)

 By: Lankysudanese : September 22nd, 2021-06:32
I wanted to poll the purists, to see how many share the passion (and their timepieces) with my significant others. My wife thinks that watch collecting is a sign of extreme vanity, and doesn’t like many of my watches. So when she commented on was on my wr...

Nico! How are always 10-20 years ahead of the industry!?!?

Looks like your daughter inherited your good taste I’m slowly working on my sons ...

😁😁

Very cool! He’s got good taste like the old man!

 By: DouglasM : September 23rd, 2021-00:26
On another note, I love that strap on that watch. If you’re looking for another, one of my fave strap makers based in Ukraine can make a killer black shark with orange stitching. The texture of shark skin would look good with the texture of that dial. He ...

PM me the deets bro. PM Me!!!!

This strap is actually very cheap and plastic-y (including the sound it makes). It came free in a buy 2 get 1 free deal. But I run a tight ship, no straps to waste.

Great post

My dear sister was not a WIS. But due to my great love for her, I give her a timepiece every other year as a present. I can see her eyes sparkle when she sees me wear certain pieces. I parted with a Longines Legend Diver, A Hamilton Field watch in DLC, an...

I got it for 5k SGD

 By: Cookies : September 22nd, 2021-08:32
There was another going for 4.5k recently. This piece somehow is a sleeper.

=D thanks buddy

Scrawny hands is the gift

 By: Cookies : September 22nd, 2021-07:15
Too bulky hands, one can only use for ortho specialties. Your hands were blessed to plunge into chests, and do micro-level repairs on the hairspring of humans.

🤣🤣🤣

I’m just a glorified plumber

My youngest one is desperate because her tiny little oyster is back to the watchmaker....

The eldest is anxiously waiting in line for a new one as well as my partner. I guess I won't be able to buy anything in the next years for myself! ...

What a princessly timepiece (sorry for the pun).

 By: Lankysudanese : September 22nd, 2021-08:34
And I guess I should take heed in the struggles on the other side of the spectrum (when your entire family is into watches, to the point that you can’t even buy something new for yourself) The grass is always greener on the other side 😁

Nice one!

I should confess that I love "small-wrist" watches (to say it PC!). I'll keep you guys informed about the evolution of my family collection.

When it pours it floods

When it is dry, some days feel like a desert. My life has been filled with terrible ups and terrible downs. For 5 years, I could not even think about watches or even a $5k motorbike which I desperately needed for work. But those days are far behind now, I...

I am not sure I'm getting your point across here dear Cookies.

 By: Mary Anny : September 22nd, 2021-15:17
Providing (watches) to the family is my priority right now! Anyway, I would love to see more "Small-wrist" watches in this amazing forum sometime.

Ah, sorry I went Deep

 By: Cookies : September 22nd, 2021-15:38
Because you mentioned you cannot get anything new for yourself in the next few years, I told you a story about my 5 years of not being able to get watches for myself, let alone a motorbike I needed to commuting to work. And also, a snippet of how hard tim...

No worries at all!!!!!

The ups and downs of life I guess....

Love you Maryanny

I always enjoy your company here on the forums. Have a great week. Admire your love for your children. That is the highest order. I wish I had a mom like that. I never had a mom-character in my life sadly. She was like Cher in Mamma Mia 2, always not avai...

Sent you a PM Cookies!

My wife has her own collection; one son momentarily showed interest.

 By: mkvc : September 22nd, 2021-14:43
But now she rarely wears a watch (after all, who leaves the house any more?) and my son completely lost interest. That is fine with me; watches are time-consuming and expensive and should only be pursued if one is really motivated.

I’m lucky

 By: Jurry : September 22nd, 2021-14:44
I am very lucky because I have 3 passions: watches, photography and golf And my wife shares all 3 passions. She just has bit more budget control than I do which is actually a good thing fir our pension plan

I didn't know that you had a list, Tony. Your collection is the definition of 'complete'.

 By: Lankysudanese : September 22nd, 2021-19:19
But I guess this terrible affliction of ours saves no one. [I'm assuming that you are talking about my Longines heritage re-issue]

🙏🏿🙌🏿

My girlfriend is (was?) not much into watches, but since she now attends most events with me, I think she's slowly getting the bug....;-)) And she can also wear pretty well the "huge" watches despite her small wrist, which is always a good sign! :-)

 By: FabR : September 22nd, 2021-14:58
Here are a few pics: [From a dinner where she was sitting next to our Patek regional director and had a chance to try on her watch...One of my next goals is of course to convince my girlfriend to buy her own Patek! ] ...

Thanks FabR. Those Patek Philippe watches look 'at home' on your SO's wrist.

 By: Lankysudanese : September 22nd, 2021-19:03
I'm sure that she will make that financial commitment to a piece soon.

What an enabler, you are 🤣🤣🤣

The Longines is great on the lanky wrist, love it!

By the way, I’m a Toyota fan too. I have an Avalon. Best car for my money, although my wife thinks it’s an old man’s car. Turning 50 next year, so maybe I fit it then! Speaking of wives; she tolerates my watches but doesn’t care to understand it. Got her ...

I agree. These days I can barely look at Panerai but seeing that old photo of her

Most probably. ;)

Bask in the glory of your success, Brandon. Bask in it.

The rest of us can only hope and aspire. Wonderful taste in watches, as always!

BASKING😎

She has great taste

 By: Cookies : October 2nd, 2021-21:48
Great taste in choosing a great husband, and also in picking a PSM (of all the choices available, why a PSM. It speaks volumes of the thought process and complexity). I happened to be searching for posts of PSM today (cuz one is incoming) and saw your pos...

Luckily for me, my wife is super tolerant of my watch collecting among other passions such as pens, golf, poker, etc...

 By: holdemchamp1225 : September 23rd, 2021-14:40
She was a but stand-offish at the beginning but totally accepts my craziness now. As long as it doesn't get in the way of our relationship, she is all good with it. I have purchased her quite a nice collection but she only wears a few of the pieces as she...

That’s terrific, Justin.

 By: Lankysudanese : September 24th, 2021-15:46
Based on your kick-ass collection, I wouldn’t want to play you in golf or poker (unless watches are your main passion). JD are definitely up there in terms of their artistic pieces. What about Van cleef & arpels?

I feel I'm a much better golfer and poker player than a watch collector Hussam, so there's that 🤣😉🤪

 By: holdemchamp1225 : September 24th, 2021-16:08
As for VC&A, they make beautiful pieces but my wife has very discerning and particular taste so J*D is clearly her choice 🤷‍♂️

An obsession

For me it is a medicine against sleeplessness. Bovet Hublot Rolex. This was to heavy, because it is an expensive trio. Lucky i am, i have a discovered a new less expensive way. I imagine a Swiss lever escapement, and the sandman comes. Sometimes i imagine...
