Morning piloting

Nov 09, 2019,03:02 AM

took my Big Pilot to test drive the new Alpine A110s this morning.

Overall a nice car but not in love yet. The exterior is really nice but the interior feels a bit off, quite plasticky without the « race car » purity of a Lotus for exemple.

Overall perf is good, the car is very agile and balanced but the engine (1.8l 4 cylinder) is not overwhelming. It lacks the torque and « kick » I have with my RS4.

The Alpine is a fun car but the practicality/perf ratio is better with the Audi. Now I need to test the new Cayman GT4 smile

Enjoy your We

Seb

You cannot compare the feeling of the engine of a RS4 which is full of torque and power everywhere with the much smaller engine of the Alpine. The sensations are totally different.

Essentially due to the lack of torque, in this comparison. The " push on the seat " is terrific in the RS4. Really violent, impressive, as I like! I love the feeling that when you accelerate, you are stuck in the back of your seat. A feeling I have with m...

Power and acceleration overated

Today most Teslas can out accelerate your RS4, but are they fun to drive? Find a bit of snow, turn off the driver aids and you will have a lot of fun with your Alpine.

Comparing the Alpine to a rs4 is like apples and oranges man

They can both shine in the right circumstances. Can make a pretty decent two car garage though. ...

2 very different beasts. My point is that as a father of 2 who enjoys an RS4 as daily driver I was not overwhelmed enough by the Alpine to justify the extra investment. Driving feel is different but there is nothing the Alpine can do that the RS4 can’t, w...

Only the S

But as I found it a bit « soft » the standard version would not have helped. Again great car in itself, just was expecting more « wahou » given the practicality trade offs ( barely any trunk space, seats can just be moved back and forth, no angle adjustme...

I think the answer to your search lies in my picture.

You obviously like the Alpine but you actually want something more extreme. Go for a Elise 220 or even better, a Exige with 350 or 400 hp. Just forget about the Cayman, it is too heavy, a great cat nonetheless but i think you can t compare it to the Alpin...

Hmmm, the Elise!!! [nt]

unfair

The Alpine looks great. Comparing its 1.8 ltr engine against the beast of an engine of the RS4 is perhaps bit unfair towards the Alpine. The Cayman on paper is probably the best and in real life it will probably steer sharper than the others and brakes be...

What matters is the car’s performance

.... it’s a cayman and to me that’s too much ladies car .. Wonderin why is this so? BTW, I do not own a Cayman nor a Boxster and have no intention to buy one in the future. Just wondering’ /W72

Much lighter than the Cayman and not cliche’d like a Porsche. My only wish is that it came with a manual!
