MB&F releases next edition of LM101

May 12, 2021,06:10 AM

Essentially retaining all the characteristics and more, the 2021 LM101 is available in WG; RG and in Steel as well for the first time. The one important technical change is the replacement of the existing hairspring with the Straumann Double HairSpring. No change is the external dimensions of 40mm dial and 16mm height. The dial no longer contains the engraved "Legacy Machine" and looks cleaner now. MSRP for steel is CHF53000 and for the WG and RG it is CHF 64,000. Looks like the Steel edition is already sold out and on waitlist.

I feel that more affordable ones may be on the way

Perhaps this is an indication that, while the path-breaking and avant-garde Horological Machines will continue to arrive each year, MB&F is changing its strategy in respect of the Legacy Machines. I anticipate the future LM series to come in modest si...

Just a note

that these watches are not limited editions so the steel version could not be sold out. Perhaps the first batch is but orders are still being taken. In addition, please note that the bezels are now thinner and the dials larger. The power reserve dial is c...

Thanks Sham for the additional inputs

Yes of course. The first batch of steel seems to be sold out as the MB&F webpage shows the steel as Waitlist. I am sure more of that will indeed be released and welcomed by collectors.

Love it

Removing the stupid Legacy Machine script was a great call IMO. What's the LEK finishing btw? Will probably pick up an SS one once they start to hit used markets. Although what I'd absolutely preorder instantly is a stripped down "sport" 101 like the EVO ...

that would make me lose my mind

80m wr is more than enough for me

MB&F collectors are less likely to focus on resale

Collectors of MB&F watches are generally known to buy and wear them and enjoy avant garde watchmaking. The typical MB&F buyer is unlikely to look at the HM or LM pieces as investments or flip-worthy and tend to keep their watches. One easy benchma...

Not really

I see them pop up all the time used at great prices. These will too.

Offering a slightly different perspective

MB&F on a average produces 200 to 250 pieces a year. Taking a count for the last 15 years would mean circa 3000 to 3200 pieces of all models together. Chrono24 which is a good go-to place for preowned market, has a mere 30 pieces on offer and usually ...

They are still available though, and just because you don't see them on chrono doesn't mean they aren't trading much. I almost bought an LM101 a few weeks ago on a private fb group used by dealers. See them pop up a lot and b/c there isn't much demand for...

You may want to watch Max speak about the MB&F customer profile

 By: chintu : May 26th, 2021-11:21
In a recent interview Max was asked to describe his customers and while profiling them, his words exactly were “Our customers don’t buy to sell” I have posted the youtube link as it is a very informative interview running to 45 mins. He speaks of some imp...

Superb creations.
