recommendations for photogenic movements?

 By: Chromatic Fugue : January 19th, 2017-21:02
I'm basing my next watch purchase on the following criteria. The watch must (1) have a display back (2) featuring a movement as beautiful as this FPJ movement (3) at a price point similar to this FPJ. Any recommendations? Photos encouraged!...

Check out Montblanc.

The Montblanc 1858 chronographs (be it RG, Steel or now Bronze) are extremely photogenic; manual wind chrono, finely finished and very large - decently priced as well.

VC traditionnelle, in platinum with slate grey dial or the rose gold boutique editions

Unfortunately the pic upload function does not work. Movement is stunning and praised by the likes of Voutilainen from what I remember

Stunning model

I love everything about that VC except for the 41 mm diameter, which is just too big for my wrist. But I agree it\'s a masterpiece.

I was referring to the 38mm Traditionnelle

I also agree the 41mm Patrimony is too big in diameter. All the best, Alex

Ah -- thanks, will investigate. [nt]

I suggest you buy the FPJ :)

Is this a trick question?

Laurent Ferrier....

One of my favourite brands. Such beautiful movements!

My suggestion!

As you have stated your price point, Voutilainen, Gronefeld and Romain Gauthier (among the best finishers of movements) would be automatically disqualified! I am in agreement with anyone who suggested the Montblanc 1858 chronograph for the beauty of the m...

Thank you Alkiro!

When I spoke to Vanessa Monsetel, CEO of Laurent Ferrier on Tuesday, she confirmed that they were unable to make a steel round watch for me. Perhaps it is because I requested for one in the 39mm case and she might be able to oblige in the standard 40mm ca...

Really strange because I saw one few months ago on Chrono24 (I was very close to buy it) and I already saw two of them at the Paris shop "Antoine de Macedo" (he was among the first, if not the first, to receive steel ones as a "special order" of course)

I\'m sad for you because I really love this brand and what they make. I don\'t know why they cannot make one in steel for you. If you want, I can ask to Antoine if he can order for you the model you want in steel? Best wishes Alkiro

Many thanks Alkiro!

It is ok. The case of the 39mm watch is actually more complex than the 40mm standard model due to its curvature. Nowadays, there are so many wonderful watches out there and with people like Kari Voutilainenfor example who is able to make me a watch in any...

Agreed! :-) [nt]

Thanks for the great suggestions!

And in response to a couple of points. First, it wasn\'t a trick question: that\'s my FPJ (and my photo). That watch is in the shop, which has made me long for another photogenic movement. I have a Patek 5107, but that was a surprising (to me) step down i...

Very true

that 3quarter plate does spoil a bit of the fun

Have you considered...

Audrmats Piguet Skeleton 15305 ...

Beautiful, but alas

... the integrated bracelet on the 15300/15305 doesn\'t fit my wrist.

Here's something that I like - Pascal Coyon watches

 By: socabaptist : January 21st, 2017-19:59
You can specify finishing and how you want the dial to look, but I think the wait is quite long for one of his pieces. Just a suggestion and he's a lot cheaper than some of the other suggestions. Pascal Coyon is a French watchmaker which is creating some ...
