When there is a real appreciation to what is collected. Beyond the brand and the name I really like it when someone can speak to the history and innovation of Rolex as well as Patek - it made me a believer of Rolex at one point - but then we all meet folk... 

The mass simply doesn’t know what’s great. If I see someone has something hyped I always question him and need to take a deeper look in his collection.

Jay said it well, sometimes a watch is classic and then who cares who else has it? I have a watch that became hyped and I love it the same as if no one had it.

I stay away from hyped watches even if I quite like some.

It’s an enduring design which looks just as good today as the first time I saw one. I care not if every other guy in my office wears one too. Similarly for the Nautilus. It took me a long time in my watch journey to appreciate both the Nautilus and the RO...
