It's interesting that the seller claims to be a pawn shop in California but the eBay user ID belongs to a seller in Germany

Their listings also encourage buyers to make offers through a copy and paste link instead of the normal eBay system. Not sure if eBay's buyer protection would apply there. LOL!

. . . as his - or more likely, their - offerings are almost certainly a scam. Art ...

How "bout I send my friend?

He talks and even this creep will listen ;-) ...

One of my pals was a collector . . .

. . . for the Tropicana. This was way back when, but the stories he told . . . 🥶

As they say, it was too good . . .

. . . to be true. The guy is even offering Marantz 9 amps. [old photo of a legit Marantz 9 in Japan] Art ...

Takai desu!

Working vintage Marantz 9s typically trade for ~ $20K . . .

. . . and the VAC reissues about the same, maybe slightly less. My grail amp . . . what I wouldn't give to have a set.

The only time I heard them was at CES about thirty years ago . . .

. . . and those were the VAC reissues, although they were nearly perfect copies of the originals, down to the transformer potting fluid which was supposedly found in a Marantz warehouse. Can you imagine what they'd sound like with Gold Lion KT77's? 🎧

Hmmm, what a beauty!

The fraudulent listings are still on eBay as of this moment . . .

 By: Dr No : March 28th, 2021-22:56
. . . even though they've been warned. 🙁

Incredible.

Why not involve police?

EBay has been notified. The ball's . . .

I would literally never trust a german - good to know!

 By: Reuven Malter : March 29th, 2021-03:06
... and this guy on the picture is not a german for sure.

LOL!!!

 By: mpg13 : March 29th, 2021-03:26

Nothing to fear then!

 By: ChetBaker : March 29th, 2021-04:00

Yep, that is my conclusion too.

 By: Reuven Malter : March 29th, 2021-07:36

LOL! Madoff's pic was inserted . . .

 By: Dr No : March 29th, 2021-09:45
. . . just to make a point at how widespread the fraud is. There's over two thousand listings, and not one is legit. No pawn shop accumulates that quantity and quality of inventory, and then dumps it all at one time in no-reserve auctions. Whoever is resp...

Is this the guy ...

No it’s this guy :)

I can imagine he has scammed countless people. The world is becoming a dangerous place.

Here's an update: the scammer's offerings were taken down a few days after this thread was posted . . .

 By: Dr No : April 4th, 2021-19:30
. . . and then they reappeared on eBay UK, where they similarly disappeared the following day. Sometimes, good guys win.
