I welcome this option as it doesn’t affect those who prefer traditional strap materials, but expands the market.

The highest quality leather comes from animals raised primarily for their skin. Economically, even if leather is a byproduct, it factors into the industry. Raising an animal and knowing what all of the parts are worth, whether meat, skin, bones, or other tissues is all a part of the market for that animal.

Although watch straps are a minor product, the production of animals for food and other products has a major environmental impact in terms of land, water, energy, and chemicals.

So I can say that is ridiculous! I enjoy leather in many products and wish to continue to do so. That said, I am strongly against animal cruelty and would not buy a product if animals are not treated mercifully in making it, but as long as the animal is n...

I share your sentiments

I think it is ridiculous. One solution however is to grow animal skins out of cell based technology. There won’t be any cruelty in the process I assure you. Best Gatsby

Agree with the above sentiment!

Plus am I the only one looking at those straps on the GF and thinking "that looks like crap" especially on a watch that is as expensive as GF.

Let’s all use fish-leather!

I'm all for it to replace exotics. I don't and won't use any of those.

Calf leather is a byproduct of the farming industry. As mentioned in the Fratello comment section it would otherwise go to waste so using this medium for goods is sensible. Unless the entire world goes vegetarian there will be a market for traditional lea...

I am not for killing animals for cosmetic purposes. I am for completely using animals if you eat them. I eat chicken, fish and some meat. I have zero issue with leather straps unless the underlying argument is about forcing people to become vegans which i...

Completely agree with this point!

It is even worse to me if the entire animal is not used!

I have no yet seen it but have they done fake croc or alligator skins?

I think that it is prob possible but for me, that would be the biggest hestitation i have so far with the program as I feel that many cusotmers sort of expect to have those style of leather in their watch products. If they can do that, then I have no prob...

I'm betting on greater; much greater.

I would like to think that the use of dead animals to adorn our wrists will end, and soon

I am a bit bothered by the ethics of leather, particularly exotic leather. I have stopped buying non-cow leather straps, and most of my recent purchases have been canvas, nylon, metal, or rubber. They are more washable, and the idea of animals suffering f...
