I walked around Nice and Monaco wearing a 16520 with no issues

Sometimes short sleeves, sometimes under a jacket during Grand Prix weekend this year, with no issues. The friendly guy at the Association Monaco Argentina charity stand who was raising money by selling food and drink, Michele R, was wearing a Rolex 116520 and I commented favourably on it. There was a chap and his wife sitting next to me on the grandstand who had a Rolex Kermit, they were friendly business owners in Northampton, England.

How safe is the French Riviera these days to travel with some nice watches on the wrist?

It has been many years, hence my question. How safe is it to wear Patek, Rolex or Greubel on the French Riviera. We are staying in Cannes and visiting Nice, Monaco, St. Paul de Venice, etc. Thanks for your advice. ...

I haven't been to Monaco yet this summer, but I'm just reading this as I'm dressing to go out for the night on the Riviera -- same coast a couple hour east, in general equally safe/dangerous

To keep it pithy, for the last few years my personal rule at night has been no Patek on the wrist (save exceptions or "necessity"), but almost always a Rolex, even in public places where I can assume people know in advance that I'm wearing one. So far so ...

My opinion from personal experience...

Be very careful in Cannes, especially at night. It’s a magnet for a particular type of criminal. I haven’t found Nice to be as bad. St Paul is no problem. Monaco tends to be safe as the whole place has cameras everywhere and the Police and security is wel...

Good to know! [nt]

This caution always makes me chuckle. Just wear your watch, be self confident and don't get in touch with strangers.

If you get robbed, your appropriate insurance will make it unhappen. If not, well then you saved at the wrong end!

All our watches/jewelry are insured worldwide

With a special clause of preference for replacement rather then reimbursement.

I always assumed Monaco was safe, but I don't really know...

I haven't spoken to experts about safety in Monaco. But it does seem to be a safe city. But then again, that's just my layman's superficial understanding.

Sound advice 👍 [nt]

EVERY city in the world has "good parts and bad parts" in them. Personally, I wouldn't travel with more than one watch and it would't be one of my best ones.

I can do without them for a week or so for some vacation time. I would only take something I wouldn't be heartbroken over if I came home without it, for whatever reason. I know, I know that's what insurance is for, but why risk it even if it is insured.
