1 a desire for preservation — to keep vintage watches running or restore those that are no longer working 2 to support people whose work (design, craftsmanship, innovation) you admire; to be a patron of the arts involved in watchmaking 3 etc Cazalea

I am secure enough in my insecurities to say that I do feel happy when I have a favorite watch on.
Maybe it is partly a security blanket, but also more than that as the sense of having something well crafted is a source of satisfaction.
