I'm curious, did the AD require you to put down a deposit?

If they did, they would probably be more than happy to keep your deposit (if it was non-refundable) as they will have little trouble moving the piece in very short order.

If they didn't, I'd personally follow the advice above - pick up the piece, don't even remove the stickers or wrappers and sell it for list price here on Collector's Market or elsewhere. It will cost you a little bit of time and effort but zero money and will protect your relationship with your AD.

Best,

Call from the ad

Got a call from my AD saying that they have a Submariner for me waiting. I did put my name on the list about 6 months ago. 6 months on, circumstances and priorities have slightly changed (bought house, proposed to my girlfriend). I’m leaning towards calli...

I guess it all depends what model and if this is seen a a friendly option.

If there is a list a mile long behind you your ad wont be offended. Of it is a more pedestrian model just usual allocators then hour relationship to the ad is more important. My first instinct is yo let the next guy on the list pivk it up. If this was a s...

I’m considering it. I’m not that fussed on making money on it

The job of the AD is

to make YOU happy! So if you don’t want to buy it, don’t do it. The only exception: AD ordered the watch just for you and it would be hard to sell to someone else. Best, Thomas

When I spoke to them today I said I’d pick it up tomorrow. I was told that the stickers will be removed but the warranty card will be present. I’m going to give to my business partner who wants to keep ot for his son. Picking up tomorrow

I wonder about the seriousness of some ADs when

 By: MTR : March 24th, 2019-10:54
I read about all your fears and concerns. Obviously I live in an „AD paradise“. My AD is politely, helpful, never asks for a deposit, reserves a watch for me if I am interested in etc. And for certain I have not to worry about upsetting my AD by not buyin...

Then call your AD

 By: MTR : March 24th, 2019-11:48
and tell him politely that you are not interested anymore due to.... And tell him that you appreciate his service (if this is the truth 😁😎) and that you are looking forward to buy your next watch from him. And .... forget the rest. Don’t buy something tha...

I faced similar situation about a month ago but not a on a Rolex.

I called up an AD Friend and asked about a blue Tag Aqua racer that my dad in-law likes. When the AD told me he has it in stock and gave me special pricing, I brought my in-law there. However my in-law changed his mind at the shop and I ended up not buyin...

I don't foresee a problem...

First to say, most ADs have waiting lists for Rolex pieces that are pages long. If you call to say your circumstances have changed they simply move on to the next name on the list. No bad blood there. My recent experience might serve as a typical example....
