State of the Collection...

 By: jporos : June 27th, 2020-08:27
It is 10:10 here in Mississippi. This is what I feel like is my collection at the moment. Missing are some watches I am trying to sell or service. What do you think? ...

I like your penchant for distinctive watches.

Nice to see in a sea of sameness we often witness. Which one do you wear the most? The MIH? Cheers, John

I tend to rotate just about everything...

 By: jporos : June 27th, 2020-08:54
I am trying to notice what I do not wear so that it goes for sale (and new acquisitions). Thanks, John

My view at your collection

Variation. I see enough variation. Every price range. From cheap to small luxury. Not money is important, but enjoying watches in general. Not conservative. Fruity peaces.

Thanks Weems!

I will never be able to play in the big leagues, but it does not bother my collecting that much.

Everybody

What is important is every watch lover can share it’s watch hobby at WPS. Grow. This word is on it’s place. In my situation i use grow. More important are the watches. I chose on what i like, instead of a price tag. For example, i like the Baume and Merci...

The MIH is rather special...

I bought it to celebrate my promotion to full professor, so that one is a keeper!

Well done, sir.

I was told a few weeks ago, that they sold the last piece (Embassy). I even had a chat with Mr Gerber, who actually built those. Very cool piece.

Thanks Salmanq8! [nt]

Cool collections. Different from what one might usually see here or other forums.

What is the yellow rectangular one? I like that and seems like a fun summer time piece.

The yellow is an Ikepod Manatee...

 By: jporos : June 27th, 2020-09:25
The watch was designed by Marc Newson who later worked on the Apple watch. More than a family resemblance... ...

Very intriguing, I wasn’t aware of this one.

Thanks for sharing.

Very nice collection.

Certainly watches with a lot of character, far away from the usual mainstream!

Thanks jlux!

 By: jporos : June 27th, 2020-09:31
I tend to run away from the mainstream as fast as I can!

Merci, Nicolas! [nt]

Thanks Brauner!

I do like some vivid color in a watch...

You need a pure Silberstein, though the Regulator is darn close

 By: cazalea : June 27th, 2020-10:21
I know he was involved. And of course you need an odd Seiko or two (contact me - I have too many!) Cazalea

A Giugiaro Seiko might be good...

 By: jporos : June 27th, 2020-11:45
I will have to take a look.

Like this one perhaps?

 By: cazalea : June 29th, 2020-13:17
It could fit right into your collection. Cazalea ...

Thanks Ron!

What did you trade your MIH for?

Nice and eclectic collection

If not mistaken, the Titus . . .

 By: Dr No : June 27th, 2020-13:36
. . . is a family heirloom. The rest with the exception of the Tudor could be housed in a Googie museum and be right at home. It's going to be hard to break them up, no? They really do belong together. Warmest, Art

Yes, that is true...

 By: jporos : June 27th, 2020-14:15
Googie is definitely a Southern California way to put it. Although I think I would have to go a bit wilder in my collecting to get to that point. Best, John

Amazing collection you have

 By: WatchAl : June 27th, 2020-14:11
Which timepiece is that blue one in the lower left hand corner, very intriguing to me. Thanks -Alan

Alan, that is a Lip watch....

 By: jporos : June 27th, 2020-15:43
it was manufactured in France in the early 70's with a Durowe automatic movement, aluminum case, and rubber strap. Designed by Roger Tallon, who was also the designer of the TGV train. ...

Thanks Tony! [nt]

 By: jporos : June 27th, 2020-16:54

Very much trying to keep to that theme...

 By: jporos : June 27th, 2020-19:23

Thanks Iceheller!

I really enjoy the LE x AS too.

Those are some cool timepieces! I especially like the bottom row.

 By: patrick_y : June 27th, 2020-23:00
Can you tell us more about the blue and yellow watches on the bottom row? I always liked the MIH and the Junghans.

Patrick...

 By: jporos : June 28th, 2020-07:13
The blue is a Lip, made in France in the early 1970's with a Durowe movement designed by Roger Tallon, the designer of the TGV train... the yellow is an Ikepod Manatee, a worldtimer deisgned by Marc Newson, one of the collaborators on the Apple watch. ...

Very cool indeed!

 By: patrick_y : June 28th, 2020-09:54
That Ikepod strap, how it integrates into the case is very Apple Watch-esque! And thank you for sharing more photos about the Lip! Very cool timepieces!

I admire it!!
