I have seen a few of their watches in person

and have always been impressed by the quality of the finishing. I will check back through my own photos to see how close in I have got to the movements. I have also received permission from the owner of the new AdC 8 rattrapante to photograph it at the workshop if travel restrictions relax in the next couple of months (it remains there for the time being as the new bracelet is manufactured).

Anglage! Is This Particularly Poor OR Equal to Some of the Best?

You Decide! This is an Invitation to Discussion on an example of watch finishing! Please feel welcome to comment. These examples have drawn a range of comments and now let's talk about it! These examples are all from the same watchmaker and should be cons...

Very good anglage! Lots of interior angles as well.

There probably aren't too many brands that would offer anything better, maybe some like Akrivia, Gauthier, etc. but even then it's close.

Thanks for chiming in! There are different ideas, but that's how I see it, as well..

Here's what SJX had to say: "all of the parts, new and old, are decorated by hand to a degree comparable to the most prominent names in independent watchmaking, like Voutilainen for instance."

Some more pictures!

Looks terrific! [nt]

I am impressed.

I have a small idea how much work just one arc is - let alone a whole movement. Add the black polish you see on some surfaces and this is exquisite. It takes talent, time and hard work to create something like this. Not only do you have to know how-to but...

Your experience and opinion are appreciated!

I included a pic with geneva stripes to avoid any controversy on that topic!

I tend to agree

An extremely good looking movement imho (with a very beautiful finishing )

I believe it is this watch:

Yes, all pictures are from AdC, but not all the same watch.

Thanks, I always appreciate your pictures. You're a mensch!

And whoever suggested that you take pictures against a colored background is a genius. You should marry that person!

My menschkite won't be stretching to photos on this occasion!

Don't seem to have any macros of their movements. Hopefully I will have an opportunity to visit the atelier soon. I won't pass on the compliment in case egos start to expand! After a decade in construction we had quite a collection of tiles, marble slabs,...

They are good as far as I can tell

Maybe the earlier ones are not as nice but you can see improvements in Rassmman's work with each new watch.

Great post! I'm a big sucker for big polished anglage! The bigger the bullnose edge, the happier I am!

I just wished JLC timepieces had better anglage polishing! Some of their beveled edges look downright "dry" from lack of polish.

They should make a nice 822 movement Reverso...

 By: patrick_y : June 29th, 2020-02:33
You're the JLC expert, so please add your input... A slim Reverso case like the 1931 Reverso. A special dial, maybe a historical dial, or a blue dial (a blue model already exists but not in a slim case). An 822 caliber, but maybe with some special movemen...

I feel like a lot of brands would benefit from a high-end "fancy" finished LE or small production model to honor big fans of the brand

For example: Look at Omega's central tourbillon, a haute horology watch for sure.

Maybe a special WatchProSite edition!

Building on Amanico's idea; a caliber 849 with higher end finishing and maybe metal bar springs instead of coil springs. And it'd be nice if they didn't charge us any premium for higher finishing! We offer it in steel with the silver sunburst dial with sw...

Oh yes! Good point!

My MUT has a sapphire case back. And I would love to see polished anglage there!

Right now, I have a watchmaker who is going to make a proposal.

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 29th, 2020-06:01
He is assembling a team of Swiss folks who do all the stuff for high-end brands that is claimed to be "in-house". We'll see. Otherwise, yes, I will order from AdC. I honestly don't care if fine watchmaking is done on a kitchen table as long as it's done w...

My interest was piqued by AdC's original promotional images, which showed their workshop(s) with both watchmakers' and jewellers' benches ...

 By: kjkt3 : June 29th, 2020-18:15
Looking then at the (early) AdC movements, the angles & proportions of the cocks & bridges seemed a little 'odd' - not quite 'right' - as if they'd been finished by a craftsperson who wasn't a watchmaker. The finishing - although to a high standard - look...

Fair enough. [nt]
