it's fantastic in the metal. Case dimensions are on the money and the black dial has a slight hint of sunburst. I could always do without a date window but this is another reissue situation so just following the original. The tropic strap is supple and very comfortable to wear. This is definitely one for diver fans because I can see why, from a functional standpoint, they used such large arabic numbers and an exaggerated broad arrow for the minute hand. Just for sheer visibility sake. I don't see the "faux-tina" as being a big deal anymore since it's being used so often by a lot of brands. It's just another color option in my opinion. Sometimes white, sometimes green, sometimes applied gold and no lime and sometimes a deep cream. Overall, the watch just has that well-made GO/German feel.
Where my defense for this watch ends is the retail price which is somewhere in the lower $8K (USD) for either non-bracelet version. That's practically Submariner territory and even though these are actually available at ADs versus the Sub, a customer without incredible means would really have to justify the cost. Then you add the fact that GO's are not the best at holding their value. I'd get one but either at a big discount or second hand.
