Certainly I try to be careful and aware about my watch. I do however WEAR my watches! Life is short and I am determined to get as much enjoyment out of my fine timepieces as I possibly can! I don’t own any “Safe Queens” which has pretty well kept me out o...  

My ochs and junior for example is made of silver. The silver is meant to pick up some scratches and dents and develop a patina. on my gold vintage dress watch I am trying to preserve the gorgeous case as best I can.

to me, once it is polished it is forever ruined... even the so-called "light polish"

But I tried to sell one and the buyer (shop) makes a big fuss about the dings and refuse to buy. So are they really unsellable?

but I personally do not like dings on anything I own. I was once wearing a Patek 5575G (the 175th anniversary world timer with the enchanting moon) and a friend of mine walking close to me scratched the case with her diamond ring. Despite how much I loved... 

I try to be careful when I wear my watches, but it's inevitable that dings and scratches come about. It's all part of the ownership process. IMHO: Dings and scratches do give watches some character from enjoyment.
