I also wish for a Cartier

And I think my wish is very modest - I simply want Santa to swap my Monopoussoir XL for the regular version in yellow gold with a railroad minute track. Not asking that much, am I?

What’s on your wish / Christmas list? Let’s hear about it.

 By: Jay (Eire) : December 4th, 2020-15:59
Well, with Christmas around the corner it’s time for writing lists and making wishes (yes, I’m focusing on this aspect of the holiday for now). So with that in mind what’s on your wish list? If you were writing a letter to Santa Claus, Saint Nick, Father ...

A gold one would be enough for me ...

No message body ...

I like it.👍

Boom! Is that the 995?

 By: Darron : December 4th, 2020-17:47

Yes it is! Got it today!

Congrats Chrono!

Thanks darrony

the green dial is awesome! Enjoy! Best, Andreas

Thanks Andreas

I'd quite like this one, too ...

I regret having sold my platinum Santos Dumont

 By: sham1 : December 4th, 2020-17:15
two decades ago. Mine had a silver dial but was still so gorgeous and I loved the size. But my Christmas wish list this year would be to be allocated a Simp0licity! More than 10,000 applicants for 10 watches makes the probability of that happening less th...

Ah, that will be on lots of lists clearly. Fingers crossed the Fat Man can deliver.

 By: Jay (Eire) : December 4th, 2020-17:59
I could imagine PD in a Santa suit, right?

Good luck Sham, hope you can win it! Keep in mind that it's also one watch per country, so your odds may improve there ;)

 By: jleno : December 4th, 2020-18:30
As for me, the new Krayon Anywhere is currently on the top of my wish list. I'm definitely considering it as a possible next acquisition, but that would be at least another few years down the road... ...

Amazing dial...

 By: Pun : December 4th, 2020-19:04
I wish to see it in person.

The Krayon is a great choice!

 By: sham1 : December 4th, 2020-20:24
It would be a minor miracle to be chosen and then there is the million dollar question of whether one can afford to asking price!!

that is very very gorgeous santos

To bad no salmon Manta

 By: Gelato Monster : December 6th, 2020-14:57

The classic Cartier is the epitome of elegance.

 By: BigAppleBill : December 4th, 2020-22:58
The salmon dial takes it to the next level. I imagine it being worn on New Years Eve with a formal suit or tuxedo. As for finding something in my stocking, I’ve been fortunate enough this year that I’m not anticipating anything grand, just looking forward...

Yes, normalcy would be the greatest gift. Although I think that may be on the wish list list next Holiday too.

 By: Jay (Eire) : December 5th, 2020-07:16
Hopefully we can get some of normal life back in 2021.

Boom ! I knew this one would show up here.

 By: Jay (Eire) : December 5th, 2020-07:17
I cashed this watch about 4 or 5 years ago, finally getting one on the wrist proved an anticlimax (unfortunately for me). It just wasn’t right on my wrist. I still love it though.

It just didn’t do anything for me. The size was fine, but the watch left me uninspired.

 By: Jay (Eire) : December 5th, 2020-19:55
And of course it was a steal in hindsight (single figures), but at the time I thought I’d have another pass at it and try it on again and maybe I’d feel different. When I was back at the dealer about 5-6 weeks later the watch was sold (these days these mo...

On its way to me!

Wow, superb!

 By: amanico : December 5th, 2020-01:31

Not limited.

 By: aWtchslvr : December 5th, 2020-13:47
I had it on my wrist one year ago and I know that sooner or later I’ll buy it. Have a nice weekend.

The Dumont was my first Cartier

 By: th.gr.ga : December 5th, 2020-00:28
...even if I couldn't afford the platinum model. Intetestingly, it was Geo's pictures of exactly this limited edition that originally sparked my interest. The feel of the Dumont on the wrist with its ultra thin profile is simply something else. Since then...

For sure Geo is an enabler when it comes to these Cartier. But I won’t hold it against him as clearly he’s a man of style with a great eye for the classic.

 By: Jay (Eire) : December 5th, 2020-11:14
Could we say that Cartier is at this point still a little under appreciated in the general collector space? I suspect this will change if it hasn’t already. A monopusher would be a great addition. Geo has one I believe that is just sublime.

I think you are absolutely correct in that assessment

 By: th.gr.ga : December 5th, 2020-12:10
...even from the time I bought my first Cartier, the dumont, two years ago there seems to have been a significant appreciation in prices, also helped by the recent relaunches of several of the classic models. But the vintage Cartier is still surprisingly ...

The mono-pous. is so special!

 By: th.gr.ga : December 5th, 2020-12:14
my dream would be to own this particular iteration: ...

No arguement here, that’s a beautiful watch.

 By: Jay (Eire) : December 9th, 2020-15:35
In fact it was this exact iteration of the mono which I almost bought several years ago.

Thats one beautiful Cartier with my fav dial color.

 By: Watchonthewrists : December 5th, 2020-00:57
Although i have purchased a lot of amazing watches lately I always have a few on my wishlist. From a casio till a Greubel Forsey 😬. I hope that the watch I ordered a year ago will be ready soon . Thats my only wish for this Christmas 🙏🏻. (Will let you kno...

Haha, the long wait. I hope it can make it home for Christmas !

 By: Jay (Eire) : December 5th, 2020-11:18
Like you, I too always have several on the watchlist. Something Cartier is one placeholder, the specific watch could be one of several. The original UN Freak is also there and of late I’ve been dreaming of adding a Lange back in to the lineup. My dirty li...

A nice sports watch from a great indie brand would be amazing.

 By: Watchonthewrists : December 5th, 2020-11:38
Like the new GF (to bad out of reach for me for now) so lets hope some amazing indie brand will give us a more affordable sports watch in the near future 🙏🏻😉

Don't get me started... :)))

Among a few other things... Best, nicolas ...

Indeed !

I was going to purchase a SS Santos on a bracelet this summer

 By: Uncle Chico : December 5th, 2020-03:04
But for some reason, my better half talked me out of it. For me it is an elegant, timeless classic but my wife had reservations. I should probably ask her for a more detailed explanation. As far as a wish list, with all the recent postings of UN, the bran...

The modern Santos has the same spirit for sure, but to me it’s all about size. Once the case gets larger (and the wrist doesn’t increase proportionally) the charm is lost.

 By: Jay (Eire) : December 5th, 2020-11:08
As for UN, yes. The original Freak is a watch that would also be on the list for me. In terms of modern UN there are definitely some pieces that catch the eye.

You could never go wrong with a Santos. A very beautiful gentleman's dress watch

 By: hoseachandra : December 5th, 2020-04:56
My wish is the manually wound Grand seiko either SBGW047 or SBGW231. My taste now is shifting to smaller, 35-38 mm watches.

Yes, given the choice I will also pick the 047.

 By: hoseachandra : December 5th, 2020-16:35
However, these are quite rare (its a limited edition many years ago), and the asking price is out of my budget for a GS. On the other hand, the warm, cream colored SBGW231 is also nice, albeit the all polished case is a bit too dressy.

What a beauty

That’s what I think too!

My wish would be for a Rail . . .

 By: Dr No : December 5th, 2020-19:09
. . . with a proper manual winding movement. And yes, I would buy one. This would've been perfect . . . . . . had Omega fitted a cal 8929 without the gold-finished bridges used in the Trésor. ...

+1!

Every collector must have at least 1 Cartier. Santa, give me a Santos 100XL.

Several Santossen

 By: Weems@8 : December 7th, 2020-10:44
The main check box is, i want a 100XL. The big Santos. The two tone steel/gold with a white dial. Strap and bracelet are both including. A one tone steel. The basel full set with diamonds. There is also a nice two tone black. The blue dialed normal sized ...

I bet Santa wouldn’t leave that under the tree without taking a spin first !

 By: Jay (Eire) : December 7th, 2020-05:32
Where is the manufacture? Custom? I don’t believe I’ve ever seen one on the road here but now that I’ve taken note of this one it’s possible I will be more aware.

I’m sure Santa will find a sock big enough...

 By: KamalRostov : December 7th, 2020-06:04
It’s an Aussie custom. Do check them out.

That’s a great one, Jay.

I don’t know much about Cartier which is of course a lack on my part, since it is such a great and important company. My mother actually started making a small collection of them ten years ago. (I think I inspired her) You may possibly convince me that a ...
