Help I go Scammed!!!
Apr 12, 2016,06:54 AM
I also was stupid enough to get scanned by this asshole on the same patek 5712, sent him 22500, he's out of town waiting for funds to clear etc. Same references, rapid response from references, too good to be true. He keeps in touch, out of town, will send tracking tomorrow, etc. What recourse? Going to my local pd, file report. Will the Feds get involved for mail Fraud?

HELP, I Got Scammed!
By: Para-7 : April 7th, 2016-14:42
Hi All, I just got taken for $12k by a scammer in the collector's corner. This person had listed a Patek 5712 Tiffany and I contacted him/her, and found out the asking price was $29k, I asked for pictures and details. I was sent pictures of the full kit, ...
Sorry to hear about this...was this user big*****?
By: redcorals : April 7th, 2016-15:01
If yes, I had warned/emailed the mods about that user. First thing is to make this culprit public here. Second, report the activity to Financial Fraud Unit with your local police precinct ASAP and follow their instructions. You have the address and a/c in...
Yes it was that user
By: Para-7 : April 7th, 2016-15:24
Thanks. That was my plan of action. The user is still in contact with me via email. I'm surprised the mods aren't more vigilant about scam posters. I've seen quite a few, but only the most obvious seem to be removed.
Hi
By: Alkiro1 : April 7th, 2016-23:39
Really sorry. He/she also tried to F***** me with the same process for a 5712 Patek. He/she provided me some pictures but without serial numbers, gave me some recommendations. For you, the name used for the bank wire is "Diane L. Clark" so avoid!!!
***AVOID***

I suggest in addition to the advice, you contact your bank also (you probably have done) to see if there is anything they can also do to reclaim the funds. The chances are they have gone out of this mystery account, but doesn't cost anything to try. Its t...
Absolutely.
By: Para-7 : April 8th, 2016-09:31
I usually don\'t deal with sellers in this manner and I don\'t normally end up dealing with people whom I can\'t verify on my own. I guess I was just distracted and ignored the signs because I was so blinded with lust for this piece. I have spoken with my...
Really hurts to read stories like this
By: keks : April 8th, 2016-12:39
Hope you find a way to resolve this but suspect the road is long. On a similar note, is it just me or are we seeing a dramatic increase in questionable ads here in the collectors market? In the last week there have been quite a few listings that are clear...
Moderators with knowledge of their favorite brands raise flags

And we have been deleting suspicious postings when we identify them. However, if you are asking, Is there one person who knows the entire market and reviews every posting for reasonableness? The answer is No. As Andrew said, you are buying the seller as m...

there used to be a panel on the sales section where previous buyers could add comments on the seller. I don't see that anymore (could just be my browser?) but I thought that was really useful Horrible sinking feeling to get when the seller is outed as a s...
Update:
By: Para-7 : April 12th, 2016-13:55
A small update: Of course the money has not been returned, and I have alerted the authorities (luckily, I have many contacts with judges and prosecutors and PIs, so I think there will be movement on this front). I am still in contact with the person who s...
Spoke to the Scammer Yesterday
By: anthonyl383 : April 12th, 2016-15:39
Gave the guy my number to contact me about the 5712a tiffany and was talking nonsense about a 12k deposit. I told him to send the watch to my Authorized Dealer which he refused. At that point, I told him he was bullshit. If sellers are not ok with sending...
I agree
By: anthonyl383 : April 12th, 2016-17:37
All these sellers on here seem like scammers. They should just shut down the market section for the site. Thanks for the reply!
Not the best solution
By: Para-7 : April 12th, 2016-17:53
I actually like the market section, but the amount of scammers and the lengths to which they are willing to go with their deception is getting borderline extreme (see my above post regarding the fake FBI email). I think they should just implement some mor...
Site ADMIN should regulate this matter
By: anthonyl383 : April 12th, 2016-19:04
I think there would be no problem if the site ADMIN took measures to change the settings and apply some security measures. I just find it unfortunate that there are these frauds floating around on these kinds of sites, but we always have rolexforums.c...
