Regulator Dial Watches: A Definitive List

 By: cazalea : May 6th, 2015-20:58
Hello Gents, I have long been interested in watches outfitted with regulator dials. I've owned a Chronoswiss Regulator, Goldpfeil Moon Regulator, Oris Regulator Diver, and others. So here is a list of fine Swiss, German and (?) other regulator wristwatche...

Thank you . Nice watch which becomes #48

I'm starting to think I need to buy a few of these. Is the MIMO yours, Nicolas? Mike

Superb collection - have you considered Rainer Nienaber's regulators?

two very original interpretation of the regulator: The classical version with the seconds hand at 12: The retrograde regulator: Thanks for displaying the astounding variety of a seemingly simple theme. Cheers, Magnus ...

Rainier Nienaber regulators are #46 & #47

I specifically added two of his based on a retrograde display. Cheers, Mike

But I can't find the one with the seconds at 12 o'clock...

which I consider important in the sense that they are modelled after regulator pendulum clocks. What an encyclopaedic endeavour - very well done! Best, Magnus

Don Corson's has seconds at 12 & Piaget has retro 30 sec at 12

 By: cazalea : May 9th, 2015-10:57
Most everyone else seems to put seconds elsewhere. I think Piaget might have had a running seconds at 30 but I can't remember Mike

Found one by Rainier Nienaber!

and another jump hour by Genta. Is there no end to this!? Come back in a few hours and I will have spliced them in for you. Cheers Mike ...

Yes. that's an older version to the one in my previous post...th

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : May 9th, 2015-13:35
the first one I showed. But I missed the Genta, although that is a real favorite of mine. Magnus

I was missing these two as well, and you neglected to mention them

 By: cazalea : May 9th, 2015-07:25
I will leave it to you to identify them, Mr. JLC. Are there no Reverso Regulators? I can find none. Of course there is the Atmos but I am NOT going to get into cataloging clock dials!!! Cheers Cazalea ...

I think that

01 - Baume & Mercier Executives Regulator, Milus Zetios Regulator 04 - Louis Erard Regulator (Excellence collection) 05 - Glashutte Original Senator Chronometer Regulator ( hour's dial with Roman numerals and day/night indicator) 15 - Hamilton Jazzmas...

Thank you Rubar

As you might have noticed by now, when I started I just put "regulator watch" into Google, got a list of images, and worked my way through them in order picking out examples that were clear enough so I could re-create them in my Adobe Illustrator software...

I was glad to help you :)

I really like regulator watches ( and what watches I don't like? ;)) but I have only Dornbluth Regulator.

OK, 51 Regulator watches, sorted and labeled

 By: cazalea : May 7th, 2015-11:52
Hi all, Just so no one is disappointed, this file does not contain the names of the many models that might use each configuration. What it DOES contain are all the graphics, sorted by the position of the hour indication. As you can see below, the hours ar...

Aha! The GP regulator - I like this one a lot - its a ww.tc. Right?

 By: cazalea : May 8th, 2015-08:03
I will add it to my separate list of tonneau and rectangular watches. I also know of this one too, by Roger Dubuis: Thanks for the reminder. Mike ...

Wow, pretty impressive research!

 By: SteveG : May 8th, 2015-10:24
and lots of fun as well! here is mine, I believe it is layout #14 above, apparently a homage to G. Lang, Kobold says it uses an Enicar movement, although I have seen other mentions as a Unitas 6450 (perhaps they are the same, still I would expect the manu...

Oops, I notice that #14 has a 24-hour subdial

 By: SteveG : May 8th, 2015-10:34
mine is 12-hour, I no longer find this in your list.

Yes, maybe that's #14 - oh no ~ Arrgh!

 By: cazalea : May 8th, 2015-10:38
Hi Steve, Thanks for sharing that one. I didn't know Kobold made a regulator (looks like a Unitas 6498 base to me) There are a few more coming - I have at least one more round one and a half-dozen or so rectangular, tonneau, square, etc shapes to add. I'm...

Yes, the layout is very similar, but the 6498

 By: SteveG : May 8th, 2015-10:45
is 16.5 lignes, this movement is between 11.5 and 13 (I don't had it to measure at the moment.)

OK, here's your drawing for #53

 By: cazalea : May 8th, 2015-10:58
I suppose the coding is self-evident, but just in case Hours at 0 and 12 hours scale Minutes from the center Seconds at 6 Date from the center on outer edge of dial Thanks! Mike ...

OK, the REGULATOR DIAL LAYOUT LIST has gone over 70

 By: cazalea : May 9th, 2015-07:22
I have spent about 4 days collecting and creating graphics for Regulator Watches - watches which display the time on hands with separate shafts (arbors). In addition, we've found many combinations of revolving hours, jump hours, and other novel displays. ...

Great post!!! Very informative and thanks......................

Wow! A serious regulator lover shows his stuff!

 By: cazalea : May 12th, 2015-08:51
Nice collection! Have you been at it for a long time? Some of those are really classics. Tell us ... Cheers, Cazalea

Does this one count as separate configuration?

 By: Marcus Hanke : May 12th, 2015-07:33
Hours at 12, seconds at 6, date at 3 - in your list I only found a similar configuration with additional power reserve at 9. Union Glashütte REgulator, based on selfwinding Union cal. 26 movement. Marcus ...

Actually that's the first one I did

 By: cazalea : May 12th, 2015-08:47
I'm not sure where it's gone in the compilation, but it looks like this: I'll find him and put it back. Thanks for the sharp eyes, Marcus. Mike ...

Here it is

 By: cazalea : May 13th, 2015-18:56
Look on this page , it's the first watch in the fourth row down from the top. Cheers Cazalea
