Great afternoon in Rome with a Purist

Aug 06, 2017,04:42 AM

This past Friday afternoon I had the pleasure of spending some time with our own Purists moderator Francois-Xavier (Fovesta) on the beautiful terrace of the Fendi Palace.

We had a really great time talking watches, Rome, and life in general....

The star of the meeting, was of course for me this amazing Zenith Cronometro CP-2 PuristsPro limited edition. Such a spectacularly made watch!

The Fendi Palace on the left, and the Spanish steps in the background..

And as a tribute to the Zenith Cairelli Cronometro... here's what's become of the legendary Roman military watch supplier on 144 Via del Corso:

At least the building still exists wink

Thanks again Francois for taking the time to meet up and I hope you have a great rest of a stay here in Rome!

A great reminder how times change even in the Eternal City; in another 15-20 years it might very well be something else completely.

have become banal in one way or the other. not a bad thing either, as just a few steps down from there Mussolini had taken his residence ... Next to Augustus' mausoleum, I took a picture of this, which got me thinking of course about our hobbies here! ...

I"m sure if we do a statistical analysis of the angle and lighting conditions, we'd see that they're all nearly perfectly matching in each case. It was really great to meet him and get to discuss watches. Great times! S
