Glashütte is worth a visit.

Recommend a visit of the German Watch Museum in Glashütte. Ask GO directly, if a guided tour is currently available, also give Lange and Moritz Grossmann a try. The people there are always very friendly.

And I agree with Dirk, Dresden should be on Your list, watch related boutiques Lange & Söhne, Glashütte Original, 2 AD's, at least 2 vintage watch dealers. Make a short side trip to a vinyard near Dresden (e.g. Klaus Zimmerling in Pillnitz and Wackerbarth castle in Radebeul) with a paddle steamer on river Elbe.

On Your way to Dresden You could spend some time in Saxonys spa region Bad Elster (moor mud and mineral Spa) and visit the Musicon Valley around Markneukirchen and Klingenthal with lot of manufacturers of music instruments (e.g. Framus, Warwick, concert guitars, Martin came from here), and a nice museum.

If You want to visit a museum take note, most of them are usually closed on Monday.

Glashutte: Worth Visiting?

 By: mhz vph : July 16th, 2022-05:34
I come to WPS today asking for some advice. I will shortly be embarking on my first ever trip to Germany. The primary reason for my visit is a big guitar competition/festival, which will occupy the first week of my stay. However, I will then have about a ...

I’ve been there several times

First of all, I would stay in Dresden for at least one night as it is a wonderful city to visit. Perhaps an interesting museum would be Also the Semper Oper with the famous clock. Etc a lot to do. From Dresden it is 40 min drive to Glashütte. There you c...

Visiting Dresden along with Glashutte is an excellent idea. Also glad to hear that the Uhrenmuseum is a nice one. As for arranging tours, do you think an AD would do such a thing for a non-customer? Unfortunately I do not (yet) own a watch from any of the...

If you are a watch enthusiast, I would definitely recommend visiting Glashütte. You can make arrangements to visit any of your preferred watch manufacturers. I had a great experience and got to see the entire process in manufacturing of a watch. It is sma...

How does one arrange to visit a manufacturer?

Would a simple call or email suffice? Or is there a more established way to set up contact? Either way I am glad to know that it is possible. Enjoy your trip! I will still be in Germany during the first week of August, so perhaps our paths will cross

Yes, email the manufacture and ask, or look up your nearest large dealer in TX and ask them

In my experience, many watch companies are not that proud that you have to have already bought their watches to get a visit... besides you are a famous musician and they can't go wrong selling you a product that you can tell other people about. Say you ar...

Excellent advice!

A brilliant idea to mention some of the amazing collectors on WPS. At the very least Glashutte Original will know Jocke very well. I'm surprised that any brand would be ashamed to turn away non-customers. Waitlists, the importance of brand 'loyalty', and ...

Should clarify that it is not mine. Found it online on a site called MasterHorologer. Given that the town is built around a river, the ‘flowing’ look makes a lot of sense.
