Even today I see this watch listed by Casio under “women’s G-Shock.” They might be missing a trick here.

As for spending $30,000 on a watch: I’d much rather put that money into buying something that made sense for me. The RO doesn’t. It was once an iconoclast: it broke convention and made the future. Now it’s the opposite - a so-called icon - which by definition represents the past.

The past of course is a good thing to be respected and encouraged. But my mini-excursion into the AP section here produced a feeling of melancholy. It was - I don’t mind saying this - sad to see so many people with so much money doing pretty much the same thing, over and over.

So when it comes to popular case forms, a casioak does the job nicely at 100th of the price. The same extends to any number of good microbrands who will offer a Pepsi experience for anyone so included. And so on and so forth.
