Initially listed (at an unnamed dealer) at the same exact price...to the dollar (pre-owned). Now within striking distance of each other. Value is subjective, without a doubt, but I still sometimes scratch my head in confusion over this hobby... ...
That GMT is the solid white gold version
So it already comes at a premium. BTW, I prefer that blue dial to the standard black one on the SS version. If Rolex gave the Blue dial to the new SS GMT I would've definitely bought one.
Understood regarding white gold...definitely a stiff premium over SS.
Still a difficult price point for me in light of what else those dollars could buy.

Yes, though in practice I’m afraid that prices over retail will continue to make sense, by definition, for as long as there’s people willing to shell out that money..
But I agree on your broader point: I, for one, never buy over MSRP as a matter of principle..😉
