Cryptocurrency for Watch Sales? It’s Only a Matter of Time...

 By: elliot55 : March 1st, 2021-10:59
... We all love watches. That’s why we’re here. Many of us have one watch. Most of us have several. And a few of us have massive collections. With that in mind, we’re always looking for that next piece. Many of us don’t know which one it will be. Most of ...

I Hear There Will Be...

... A JLC coin

LOL! No surprise there.

What I think your post identifies, as with all middle-men arrangements, is that the middle man needs to add value to the transaction (proportionately) for one not to want to circumvent. I think it’s inevitable crypto will be offered on some transactions,

however, I have a personal adversity to this happening as I believe a lot of the funds are coming from criminal enterprise. Not the best worded response but covers off my thoughts!

If We Worried About Funds Coming From Criminal Enterprises...

... I am pretty sure a lot of us would not have watches

As an early (2016/17) crypto investor... (NOT investing advice just opinion)

I was one of the initial investors in a well-known fund founded by a CNBC fast money trader, I am still an investor (on my own now) however crypto comes with huge risks. I know most purists are financially comfortable and pretty market savvy but I think y...

Huge Risks Come With Anything...

 By: elliot55 : March 1st, 2021-20:20
... There's risk when you get in the car every day. There's risk when you use the toaster. Risk is what separates those who will and those who wont. No risk no reward is how I see it.

Hi Scott, please help me to understand something

If I were to buy a 50k Duometre overseas and have the dealer ship it to me, how would this transaction avoid any duties? Does any government care what method you used to pay for the watch, or do they simply want to know what the watch is worth and tax you...

I Believe There Would Still Be Duties But...

 By: elliot55 : March 1st, 2021-20:24
... There would be no way to "value" the watch in a given currency. If I were to buy a watch from a dealer in Paris, for example. In most cases the dealer has a relationship with a reputable shipper, say FedEx or DHL, et al. If I buy that watch with sendi...

I doubt Governments would take kindly to your semantics

...but try it out and let me know how it goesπŸ˜‰

To Be Sure...

... Governments do not not take kindly to any semantics

Would you ship it with no insurance?

Then you need to declare the value.

True But....

 By: elliot55 : March 3rd, 2021-09:32
.... FedEx and DHL are really good at making sure packages reach their destinations. Customs and all.

LOL gj Justin!

I'm curious, have you considered Franck Muller's bitcoin watch as an appropriate celebratory acquisition? ...

The price is your dignity ;)

 By: jleno : March 1st, 2021-15:54
Great idea btw! After buying all the supply, we can just sell back and forth to each other on auctions for progressively higher prices. Maybe bribe Hodinkee to write an article about how great a watch it is. Then everyone will be freaking out about the re...

Oh Schitt...

... What have I done?

Oh Man, I Am Loving That...

 By: elliot55 : March 1st, 2021-20:27
... I think that is absolutely perfect.

Of Course You Did, My Friend...

... Because you are looking through the long lens. Etherium is pushing hard. I'm still digging the pennies. Stellar Lumens all the way to a buck

Governments will find a way to regulate and charge taxes

Or they'll soon become illegal. Think to the never born FB currency 😎

Government Will Always Find A Way...

... To get its beak wet.

There are already merchants who accept bitcoin for watch purchases.

 By: Rosneathian : March 8th, 2021-18:45
I'm not sure if it's appropriate to list them here so I won't. Stephen Foskett of Grail Watch (also contributor to Eurostar and co-host of The Watch Files podcast) denominates bitcoin in watches on his social media accounts. It's entertaining.

Interesting...

... Very interesting.

Nothing wrong with it in my opinion

You can convert to cash almost immediately, the only risk I would say is if the coin went down during the time it was sent and you cashed out. There are some coins out there that are pretty stable for this reason. I would do it
