Aqua-Lung is the name that introduced the world to scuba diving in 1943 when Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Emile Gagnan developed the first "aqua-lung" demand regulator. The logo, meant to resemble a tank of compressed air with wwin hoses and the demand regulator. Aqua-Lung sold its diving equipment to commercial and amateur divers as of 1946 in France, and by the 1950ies it became available in the US and in the UK.
Cousteau later formed a Company, U.S. Divers Co., to distribute Aqua-Lung and other branded merchandise. During the 1960ies, Aqua-Lung introduced its own range of watches.
The watch below is a "U.S. Divers Co." version (the rarest of the various versions). The case was made by A. Schild and the movement is a A. Schild / Felsa calibre 4004 automatic movement. It was advertised as the "Date-C-Matic" and sold for USD 74.95
