Hi all, got introduced to this forum by a colleague and I need you help. I’m selling my inherited Patek Ellipse 3738/118 full yellow gold. It’s just too much for my taste. I want to replace it with a dress watch if you will, clean, Date not really require...

I would take the no 4. Off my list.

Just not as spectacular as the 5227 given the price. Maybe the traditionelle is the watch for you. There is a very nice guilloche version as well. I personally like to have a date. ...

Welcome! The best advice I can give you is follow your heart....

If you really want a Moser Monard Palladium, then that is what you should get! Just because your local AD just sold his, does not mean that with a little legwork you will not be able to locate another. Don't stray away from what you really want, in my exp...

… IWC. It just isn't in the same class as the others. Then, not the Moser or the Parmigiani. Beautiful as the Moser is, it's too small & young a brand and the Parmigiani is both small and eccentric. As for the Patek … well, Pateks are obviously highly res...

I vote for the VC Traditionnelle handwound, be it the platinum slate dial or the boutique guilloché RG one. It is perfect imho, Alex

. . . but find two-handed watches suitable only for, well . . . suits. I'd be tempted to seek out a vintage Omega subsidiary seconds dress watch like the Centenary . . . . . . and pocket the change. Art ...

If it were me

My tastes change over time and I enjoy different things, So unless you are on a position to build a collection, you have to consider the resale price as you will likely sell it to try something else at some point. That being the case, you want either the ...

If it were me I'd keep the 3738

I'd send it in to have Patek give it a good service. It's inherited, so it's special. It's off trend, but striking, so it will start convos. Also, you might not get that much if you sell it. Then in the mean time, I would save up for the VC and call it a ...

You should try them all on and pick what you think looks the best on your wrist. But just to answer the question, I'd probably go with the VC, Parmigiani, or Moser. I'm usually a fan of going towards more off the beaten path brands.

That’s the watch The thing is - too much bling for my taste, with leather strap ok, but the gold is too heavy. Also I’m not in for the gain, but for design, mechanical and finishing details. That’s why I find alle the hype on Daytona’s or the GMT models l...
