Ah, mine is the predecessor 8000 model, also direct drive.

On the central rotor part surrounding the spindle, there is a plastic sheet printed with the lines for the strobe to read. That sheet was affixed to a metal disc. The plastic sheet delaminated from the metal disc, which rendered the strobe speed governor useless. And the plastic sheet curled so badly that it was irreparable.
It sounds like B&O solved the problem on your later model by incising the timing strips into the metal disc itself, which is a much better approach.
I’ve kept mine for years, solely as an example of beautiful industrial design.
Oh, and I’m in San Francisco. Compliments on your wonderful system, HEO!

Always reminds me a little of Counting Crows and the guitar style of Tom Petty.

When I look outside the window my city looks like a "One Horse Town" at the moment

Just a few people. Hopefully things change soon. Didnt know Counting Crows. Like them. Nor sure about the guitar style.

I think an argument could be made for a separate audiophile section.

I second that... new audiophile section...

I love audio. And there is no better audio, than expensive audio Checking the Argon streaming device. So, an new audiophile section would be great. 💿 Not really high end, but NAD produce just the sound i like. 🎹 ...

That B&O 8000 turntable! A question...

 By: Ano Nuevo : April 1st, 2020-12:46
How were you able to repair that unit’s Achilles heel, the delamination of the plastic timing disc? I took mine in for repair years ago, and was told, “Sorry. There’s no replacement available anywhere for that part. B&O doesn’t have any.” Ano “Dare I hope...

This is an 8002 model. It has a special direct-drive platter system.

 By: HighEndOne : April 1st, 2020-17:29
Are you asking about the slotted metal disc, or the optical strobe part? And where are you located?

Ah, mine is the predecessor 8000 model, also direct drive.

HighEndOne, this is an audiophile watch enthousiast. Mark Levinson, the Lexus car stereo supplier. ...

Many years before Harman-Kardon bought out Madrigal (then owner of ML), Mark Levinson (the man) created this brand.

 By: HighEndOne : April 1st, 2020-17:34
It is said that he (ML) created the High End as we know it today. I think that is debatable. But there is no question that he had a vision. The car line of audio is all H-K's creation.

The first high end the world saw. I tease a bit. Here is QUAD. Famous about the ESL loudspeakers. Do not forget McIntosh, are early coming up with quality amps. And i like the design.

Awesome ML [nt]
