A pretty memorable lunch…

Jul 14, 2013,05:31 AM

with some great company, and some pretty special watches.

Great photos Andrew, and thanks for setting it all up.

If I heard correctly, the Kari was recently field tested out in the forests of Tasmania ?

A first time for everything I suppose. Perhaps checking its possibilities as a 'tool-watch'...

Certainly a lot going on inside this one.

The new magnifier was certainly a hit - especially with watches as well finished as some of these.

It was great fun. Hope we can do it all again some time.

p.s. - like the photos of the "Jealousy"

The seven hour PuristS lunch

 By: AndrewD : July 14th, 2013-01:42
Its always a big occasion when Pplater ventures across the continent to share a meal. Again we were well overdue [ click here to have lunch with us again at Stokehouse in late 2011 ] but it was worth the wait. Six of us spent more than seven hours sharin...

Did you have the time to eat something else than watches?

 By: amanico : July 14th, 2013-02:02
The rectangular Pateks and the White dialed Sùith had all my attention. Breathtaking! Best, Nicolas

Number 8

Number 8 Restaurant & Wine Bar is the flagship modern Australian restaurant in the Crown complex. Both lunch and dinner is consistent and always pleasant. All supported by a good wine list. Here is some ambience over the watches and around the food .....

Even the food & drinks ...

... and being part of the fun. I did eventually determine that there is not much tea in Long Island iced tea. And it's not the best way to detox after too many glasses of wine with lunch. ;-) Andrew

That story about Long Islands . . .

watches to examine(or ogle over).

Very enjoyable recap....

Very Artistically photographed, Bravo . It seems that Pplater is the catalyst for these long soirees . Your stokehouse 2011 , watchband X'mas breakup and more recently Pplaters session with G and Andy. Cheers, dreamer

It was great to hear all those stories

 By: AndrewD : July 15th, 2013-04:44
And to understand why the watches mean so much. You are a great man, Dreamer. Thanks for the kind words about the photos. I hope they captured the atmosphere of the day. Till next time. Andrew

Impressive line up! :)

Guess you guys ahd a great time! :) Do you have any information on the Dacor? Looks like many of the divers form late 50's and early 60's. KonTike, Sea Wolf, ... Size 35-36 mm? Thank you for sharing, my friend! Best Blomman

Thank you and Thank you

Firstly, for organising a great lunch and a great afternoon. Secondly, for capturing it all so well.

The topics of discussion ranged widely

 By: AndrewD : July 15th, 2013-04:48
Which is always the fun part of these GTGs. Pplater and I in fact have actively avoided talking watches and horology until at least after entree on past GTG. I'm not sure we made it this time - the Tuscar got the better of the discussion. Pleased you had ...

In fact there were several missed photo opportunities, even in the 7 hours we had! But thanks for the additional photos of the day. Kari's Observatoire is something special on the wrist. And I know your a lugs man. Andrew

'only' seven hours? :)

This looks like a most splendid lunch/ afternoon/ early evening - thanks for letting us live vicariously :)

Is that a comment on our waistlines?

Yes there's the '4' thing...

The bucket list

 By: AndrewD : July 15th, 2013-17:15
Honestly it would be a pleasure to welcome you down here. Sydney is fun, but superficial. Melbourne takes time to scratch the surface but most people are smitten. Give me some advanced notice and you will be eating like a king. I have followed Tetsuya's i...

That I can think of to spend 7 hours. Good food, company, watches & wine. Not necessarily in that order. ;)

You guys

Do it best down under ! That Rolex Cellini ? Really caught my eye ! And that McGonigle is quite superb ... Thanks for taking us there !

Lots of interesting pieces. The Rolex is not actually a Prince but an interlopere

 By: watch-guy.com : July 15th, 2013-13:12
It is a classic brancard case in RG with a GF beads of rice bracelet but the movement is an straight rectangular Rolex extra Prima- non Prince. Actual ref is 2771. Julian

Wonderful, wow!

Impressive set of timepieces and clearly great fun! Thank you for sharing. And Andrew, I am biased, but, excellent choice of Breguet to wear to this lunch!! =)

The sense of occasion

 By: AndrewD : July 15th, 2013-05:02
Thanks for noticing the Breguet La Tradition. There were a few watches that brought a sense of occasion to the festivities, and the La Tradition was one of them. It is still a unique design idea with a lot of personality, even at 37mm. Andrew

Your PuristS lunch
