You Decide! Is This A Great Watch?

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 24th, 2021-14:34
Longines heritage Classic 38.5mm x 10mm 70hr power reserve. On bracelet or strap. I was struck by the classic look, very well done. Of course, we can always apply our watchautism and say "if not for this or that tiny detail..." and the "eaten 6" is a clas...

Black + beads of rice = killer, very original proposition

And the price makes sense too. What is not to like?

Agreed x100! It's a perfect purist watch!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 24th, 2021-14:37

That's a nice version, too!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 24th, 2021-15:53

The "eaten 6" doesn't bother me. What does is that butt near the crown

 By: jiggerly-cool : June 24th, 2021-15:02
I much prefer vertical numbers because I can't unsee the butt. (Moonphases I like, but not being mooned. Otherwise, this watch is practically perfect as a time-only.)

That's hilarious!

A feature, not a bug (or butt) for me!

Youā€™ve ruined it

 By: jaychang777 : June 25th, 2021-19:09
šŸ˜‚

It's high on my list this year. A cool vintage vibes.

The only question is how many will be too many.

You need at least 3 of them!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 24th, 2021-15:55

NEEDS to be hand wound

 By: xxn : June 24th, 2021-15:26
the purists would certainly line up thenā€¦..šŸ¤ž

I think the closed back was the right move.

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 24th, 2021-15:56
So, not sure why a manual would be better?

Manual evokes

 By: xxn : June 24th, 2021-18:00
and takes you back to that era of sector dials. Nothing beats the crunch of winding a crown and yes agree the closed back dial suits this betterā€¦

Makes sense!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 24th, 2021-18:44

Different than the 3, 6, and 9?

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 24th, 2021-15:57

Certainly...the spacing is uneven...

 By: mdg : June 24th, 2021-16:15
...which makes sense given the nature of the '1' and the '2' in the number 12. But it still looks odd.

Makes sense.

When I saw the press photo of it on the bracelet I definitely thought ā€œanother good one from Longinesā€.

 By: Jay (Eire) : June 24th, 2021-17:32
A fan for sure, despite the issues outlined above (the butt, and the long ā€œ1ā€).

An Irish proverb.

For the price, I kinda like it...

 By: JToddH : June 24th, 2021-17:37
Especially in blue - even if they could use a skilled typographer.

Me, too.

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 24th, 2021-18:45
I have a feeling they needed the typographer in the 40s or whenever this comes from.

šŸ½6ļøāƒ£! šŸ˜ø

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 24th, 2021-23:48

Ooh, another one from Longines!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 25th, 2021-12:16

Love it and love the BoR braceletā€¦

 By: APROchrono : June 24th, 2021-23:23
Have already put my name down at the boutique to go see it when it comes. Plan is to either buy the watch or to order the BoR bracelet to put on my Heritage Tuxedo Chronograph. I believe they are the same lug width (19mm) but different case diameter.

It's a classic bracelet design for a classically styled watch!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 24th, 2021-23:50
Longines seems to be reclaiming it's allure by looking back to when it was a top-notch brand.

Not to hijack the thread...

 By: APROchrono : June 25th, 2021-14:05
...but here is an amateurish amalgamation of two photos from the Longines website. Let me know what you think of the end result. Moderators please delete if I am violating any forum rules. ...

Please hijack! I think that looks great! Perfect, really.

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 25th, 2021-15:07
Could you please work your magic for what the Longines heritage Classic white dial would look like on this bracelet?

Your wish is my command :)

 By: APROchrono : June 25th, 2021-17:27
A horrible effort, but I think it gives you the gist. May look a bit cold and sterile. ...

Thank you - will head into the boutique here and post pics when it arrives.

 By: APROchrono : June 25th, 2021-23:44
I think the bracelet is overpowering the white dial, whereas the black dial and the Chrono have enough going on in the dial to hold their own against the bracelet. Would love to see someoneā€™s ā€œliveā€ pictures, because it may be completely different.

Unfortunately this watch was a bit disappointing live!

 By: APROchrono : July 30th, 2021-11:36
The dial was a little flat and the flat glass was accentuated. The bracelet was a bit too shiny for me. I am so disappointed with the bracelet. But that was just for my taste.

:( but thanks so much for checking it out!!!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : August 3rd, 2021-21:10

Have you seen it live?

 By: APROchrono : August 3rd, 2021-23:41
Would love to hear your view - I really wanted to like it but just couldnā€™t!

Ended up...

 By: APROchrono : August 11th, 2021-16:46
... ordering the Forstner BoR bracelet. Still waiting for it to come and will post pics of the Tux with it on. Reddit had a photo if anyone is interested [hope i am not violating forum rules, but please delete if so]

Too nice!

 By: amanico : August 12th, 2021-05:52

Merci!

 By: APROchrono : August 12th, 2021-06:05
Hope it looks nice on the watch. My only concern is the drop from the lugs to the bracelet - more vintage but letā€™s see how it looks

Not bad for me.

 By: amanico : August 12th, 2021-10:32

šŸ™šŸ¼

 By: APROchrono : August 12th, 2021-16:30

Definitely a success

 By: jmpTT : June 25th, 2021-02:42
Itā€™s not the sort of watch Iā€™d stare at slack-jawed while browsing social media, but it sure is easy on the eyes. Love the look, totally.

I love the bracelet.

 By: Bounce781 : June 25th, 2021-03:32
Would particularly like this on the white dial version

I'm sure it's possible.

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 25th, 2021-04:13

Theyā€™ve been doing things right, dial side. Itā€™s the backside that I think needs a bit of focus simply because Longines is horologically historic..

 By: Echi : June 25th, 2021-03:33
It doesnā€™t even need to be really fancy but at least movements they can call their own. Like how Tudor has their MTxxx or Breitling their B01. Or look at Omegaā€™s mass produced movement on their seamasters with a display back.. sure theyā€™re not haute but i...

Ha ha, yes! Gotta keep your eyes on the prize, Longines!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : June 25th, 2021-04:12
The updated eta with 2.5hz and silicon hairspring are kinda sorta getting to what you're talking about...

Hehe :-)

 By: Echi : June 25th, 2021-04:19

Am with you on that!

 By: amanico : August 12th, 2021-10:29

Am I right to say that Longines is under ordersā€¦

 By: Rosneathian : August 12th, 2021-06:16
ā€¦ from Swatch not to do anything to encroach on Omega? Pity because it was once Omegaā€™s equal. Having said that I think Longines does as well as any mainstream watch brand to re-run watches from its golden years, and it has a vast back catalogue to choose...
