'Pet Peeves', or annoyances, on watches. We all have them, what are your 'pet peeves' that keep you from buying a certain model/brand/type?
Mine would be white date wheels on high end watches, no matter what model we're talking about. I'm not naming any names, but we all know some. It may not bug you, and I understand that, but to me it's a deal killer in all but a very few cases (such as pilot watches that only have black and white on the dial, so a white date wheel seems fine)
Bell & Ross could teach a 'master class' in buying date wheels to exactly match their dials, and kudos to them.
Chopard starting using color-matching date wheels going way back to their first (and stunning!) LUC 1.97 in 1997, here in the beautiful Metalem rose-engine turned guilloche salmon dial
IWC can be commended for getting their date wheel supplier to produce a perfect burgundy date wheel to match the stunning dial.
Omega goes so far as to actually matching the texture of the date wheel, with the dial, as well as the same blue printing; they do the same on black dials where they get silver printing to match.
Blancpain has been consistent in leading the charge on colored date wheels since Biver first took the reins, kudos to them.
That said, what is your pet peeve and has it kept you from buying a certain watch, brand, or type of watch?
Cheers and good health to all!
PS: in keeping with the date theme, I also have a pet peeve about the recent trend of using way too small of movement in a large case and keeping the standard date wheel, thus causing it to 'float' closer to the pinion of the dial. Drives me nuts.....
