TAG Heuer F1 & Lange 1: A Watch Lover's Journey | Horological Meandering

A strange coincidence...

A few days ago, I got the battery on my TAG Heuer F1 from 1989 changed. Once I returned home, I placed it in the left slot of my black leather two-watch case. I had not intended too, it just happened, as if a sign from a higher power. The right slot houses my Lange 1. Then it dawned on me that nothing could be more fitting than having both the TAG Heuer F1 and Lange 1 next to each other.

The TAG Heuer F1 was a childhood obsession. I drove my parents crazy. In 1989 (I was not even a teenager as yet) it became mine. The Lange 1 became an obsession ever since I stumbled upon an article with images on Lange in a German magazine in a Zurich hotel room in late 2001. I realised that "Germans also make watches." (Please forgive me for my ignorance, as I was not part of any WIS community back then and the internet was not what it is today.) I used to order a Lange catalogue each year and obsess over the Lange 1. In 2017 the second-gen pink gold reference became mine.

Same obsession. Almost three decades apart. Grateful. Now waiting for the third act.
