What is the purpose of the wide index next to each numeral, please? It seems too wide to use to set the time. And it has no relation to the hour or minute hand. It's just 'there'.

and it's a solid watch. I'm not a big fan of date windows on divers but the original had one so this gets a pass Fully brushed case, closed caseback, slight dome, super legible dial and modern features like a ceramic bezel tick a lot of boxes for a diver ...
