WG for me

IMHO the guilloche doesn't work on an already-busy dial. They're great on time-only watches as a feature. Not so much for chrono.

Which Panoretrograph: WG vs. PT

 By: fairfax : June 29th, 2021-01:17
I finally have an opportunity to purchase a piece I've been eying for a long time, the amazing Panoretrograph! The question is which one would you prefer if you get one: WG Pros: -no cabochon -more affordable PT Pros: -lovely PT shine -rose turned guilloc...

Given the option I’ll always lean towards PT.

Love the way it Patina’s and the heft let’s you know you have something special on your wrist. Both great pieces though can’t go wrong with either.

I prefer the white gold

I’m not a fan of the cabochon on that watch. Not in keeping with the German aesthetic in my opinion

I'm not a fan of the dial at the Pt model.

That’s fair

I was worried too since I’m not a guilloche person. But after videos and seeing it in person, the dial work on the PT has a nice balance

Neither!

Take the steel: It is the real deal! Ok, it is only a Panograph, but its her best form! Yours, Adam ...

Very good advice👍

PT and limited if you are after something special, WG if you only wear precious metal.

I would also go for the steel model, like suggested before.

Interesting to have steel before WG…for hardness?

Ok got it. Thanks for sharing this perspective!

For me, PT in and itself only offer a slight benefit compared to WG

 By: fairfax : June 29th, 2021-13:28
I’m quite agnostic to which white metals I prefer. I do like the whiteness and relative hardness of PT, but that’s offset by cost. To me the elements that sway me is dial layout and case/crown. But overall, I agree with the ranking!

Def the guilloche!

I am a sucker for guilloche and crowns with stones in them so, yay, prob not what you bank account wants to hear but I would pick the guilloche one!

Awesome choice! I also love these Retrographs!

The movement is astounding! I really wish GO would make manuals like this again. But, to answer your question, I'd go PT, the Glashutte sig block on the WG version always turned me off. The arc of the number sig on the PT is much more pleasing, to say not...

Really perceptive on the sig block!

 By: fairfax : June 29th, 2021-13:31
You really pointed out something I only picked up subconsciously. The PT sig block is much more elegant, lending to a much more balanced dial. I may think that is even a larger factor compared to the nice guilloche work on the dial for me. Thank you for a...

I wonder how much...

...the price of PRG increased in the last months. Last time I've checked it was around 25-27K€ and now it's raised over 40K€... wow. I would prefer the WG version! stere

It is indeed. I think it’s due to ALS pieces being finally recognized

 By: fairfax : June 30th, 2021-13:37
As people learn more about GO (esp with the older no-expense-spared pieces such as PRG) it’s going up too. All it takes is some social media coverage and ppl will jump on the bandwagon. The movement architecture of the PRG stands above the Datograph IMHO ...

Thank you!

I just wanted to thank everyone on this thread for your suggestions. I ended up with the PT after having both in my hand. Both PRG dials were so hard to capture in terms on color and texture. But the PT won out quite easily for me due to the following rea...
