Uh-oh... the RG version of Senator Auto is so beautiful

Mar 28, 2011,20:26 PM

Wow--I saw the pics of the white metal version in photos, and I found it very shiny looking... this RG version warms up the whole. I will love seeing this version in pics and in person. Maybe a GO icon in the making? I can see Jocke taking unreal pictures of this one. smile This message has been edited by Mostel on 2011-03-28 20:27:05

It's time for the BaselWorld 2011: Glashütte Original introductions, folks . . .

. . . and away we go! This message has been edited by AnthonyTsai on 2011-03-27 10:21:31...

First up, the Senator Seventies Panorama Date . . .

 By: Dr No : March 24th, 2011-01:30
. . . which was introduced last month. Our Man in Glashütte has provided new photos for us, showcasing blue . . . . . . and silver dials . . . . . . as well as sapphire backs that display the cal 39 movement: This is my favorite of the 2011 crop, particul...

Wow!

 By: jporos : March 24th, 2011-11:04
I love that blue dial!

I'm liking this one more and more.

 By: RJW : March 26th, 2011-17:31
The blue dial with that sunburst effect is brilliant. And the large date is perfect for me. Regards, Richard. This message has been edited by RJW on 2011-03-26 17:32:50

The blue 70's will be a hit, but

 By: Mostel : March 28th, 2011-19:01
the white date... interrupts the dial... on the other hand, blue date would be weird, wouldn't it.... I'm sure this will be really cool in person. Jury is out for me. But I think it will be a hit.

Agree Mostel...They all do it and I don't know why?

 By: =RWK= : March 28th, 2011-19:22
the panoramadatum should be blue with a soft white font. Cheers, -- Richard.

Next is the Senator Sixties Square Tourbillon . . .

 By: Dr No : March 24th, 2011-01:42
g . . . and the corresponding press release from G O: "Sixties Square Tourbillon - Limited Edition Iconic design, ingenious mechanics and exquisite craftsmanship. The look of the Sixties, the traditional German watchmaker’s art and contemporary manufactor...

Senator perpetual calendar in rose gold . . .

 By: Dr No : March 24th, 2011-02:05

still dreaming for one in steel, with the bracelet. Best, Goh

Thanks, these are really amazing pieces

 By: grigo : March 24th, 2011-02:13
The 70's version is really different. Very 70's yet with a more modern touch. Best regards, George

I will be trying the '70s on . . .

 By: Dr No : March 24th, 2011-09:18
. . . with a view towards acquisition, probably the blue dial. I can only hope it doesn't overwhelm my wrist! Cordially, Art

For some particular reason

 By: grigo : March 24th, 2011-09:41
I kind of figured that you would fancy this model. I look forward to your report the day you will have held it in your hands. The rest of the Glashütte line up this year is also very good. Best regards, George

The Senator Sixties Panorama Date . . .

 By: Dr No : March 24th, 2011-02:15

The Senator Navigator WorldView . . .

 By: Dr No : March 24th, 2011-02:32
. . . is perhaps the most interesting G O novelty of 2011, bringing a deftly complicated touch to the Navigator formula. "Senator Navigator WorldView An homage to pioneering spirits It’s the 1920s. Aviation is in its infancy, yet all countries in Europe a...

Pilot Dreaming

 By: emcquillan : March 25th, 2011-14:58
I'm not enamoured with the high pitch sound caliber 39 makes when winding, but this Navigator looks VERY interesting. I need some time to digest this piece and of course see it in the metal, but it is very appealing at first sight. Thanks for the updates ...

Too busy...I'd rather do the math in my head and have the minimalist dial

 By: =RWK= : March 28th, 2011-19:28
with date or without. Darn I wish this piece was unlimited GO!...

Agreed, Richard, that the simple dial is to die for.

The G.O WT is not really a WT, I mean ala PP or GP, or JLC... Or, it is a WT ala JLC Memovox International. You'll have to set your watch manually, if you want to know wha't the time worldwide. That is my guess on the G.O WT, and if I'm wrong, it is even ...

The Senator Automatic . . .

Does anyone know the size and msrp of this SS model?

I should be receiving a price list shortly . . .

 By: Dr No : March 24th, 2011-09:14
. . . so please check back with me in a few weeks. My guess is that this one will be equivalent to, or less than, the current Senator Automatic. Cordially, Art

This years G O winner

There's less to the resurgence of the cal 39 . . .

 By: Dr No : March 25th, 2011-09:22
. . . than meets the eye, Mike. The decision for three of the four (Sixties, Seventies Square, and WorldView) was driven by the aesthetic necessity of a centrally located date aperture, which can only be fulfilled by the cal 39 movement. The cal 22 would ...

Yes, I had surmised this with the others,

 By: crabman : March 25th, 2011-20:19
It was this one (senator auto) I was referring to as it would have been my thought the caliber 100 would have been the more natural fit. The choice of caliber 39 seems more a nod to product placement within the line either as to price point or product pos...

 By: Starman : March 25th, 2011-15:15
Fantastic looking watch that is; can't wait to see it in the flesh. This must be the number one hit of the SIHH; simpel and yet lots of detail, classic refined looks; just love it. Best, Starman

Very nice, but not sure about a sweep seconds with RN?
