The strap is attached by means of a friction pin.

I changed out the strap on my Seventies Chronograph a few years back, so that I could replace it with the bracelet.
For the life of me, I am unable to successfully insert a YouTube link here that demonstrates the process. But -- Google "friction pin removal watch band" and you'll land on a page that includes a video that will help you to understand how to remove a friction pin.
In short, the process involves inserting a tool at one end of the pin that attaches the strap to the case, and tapping gently with a jeweler's hammer until the pin comes out the other side. The tools look something like this (although the plastic tray won't be part of the process for your GO):

Hopefully, this will be of some help in giving you an idea of what is involved.
Cheers,
Jim
