Perpetual vs Chronometer
Hello-
Weeks ago, I post a new thread seeking advice for a perpetual calender and the natvigator perpetual was the winner.
home.watchprosite.com
But thing got complicated as my AD shows me a Senator Chronometer (white gold) which is the first time I handle one in metal. It capture my heart instantly through it's build quality (dial and movement) with a subtle technical innovation (time setting.) Both of them carry a strong GO dna and are unique in its own category, eg. pilot watch with a clean perpetual vs chronometer with big date. I can see both watch getting worn and loved daily but I don't have the budget for two. I've been wanting a piece from a German manufacture and have been looking at ALS, GO and Dornblueth as well.
On the dress side, I have PP and FPJ and on caual side I wear Pam and ROO, so this is going to be my first from a German manufacture, and if you were in my shoes, which way would you go?
1) Get the Senator Chronometer and forget about the Navigator
2) Get the Navigator Perpetual and spare some funds for a Dornblueth 99.2 or Regulator (I remember seeing some thread stating some resemblence in their appearance and use it as a affordable alternative.)
3) If you say to save up for both, which one will you go first?
4) I prefer one from each brand (but that's not a rule) if i have give up the Chronometer, will you suggest an alternative from other brand?
(This picture is for your quick reference and I've credit to the original photographer for their work.)

is 42mm that big?

I should have strap it on that day! A 42mm doesn't sound like it's size would be a problem in today's standard. But may be you've pin point the problem...the strap fitting mechanism...gapless with the watch but not with my wrist. What a pity if it doesn't...
Interesting post

I own a Navigator Perpetual. While an unusual complication for a Navigator, I think it is very well done and the nicest of the GO Navigator models. With that said, I favor deck watches and I think the GO Chronometer is an excellent example of one. I have ...
It seems . .

that the Chronometer and Dornblueth look quite similar. I think perpetual calendars are something special and every serious collector should have one in his or her collection! Given those qualifications, I would not hesitate to purchase the Navigator Perp...

Really amazing, made of steel, so you can wear it every day... I remember my first (and last!) gold watch: the mirror watch surface "scratched" by the fabric of the jacket! How I like stainless steel! A wonderful dial ready to show the information you nee...
