Watchmaking
seemed to be a typical male preserve in the past but exception proves
the rule: The history of watchmaking in Glashütte is an exception in
this regard. As early as the mid-19th century, women were already very
valuable working in the manufacturing of the watches’ hands in
Glashütte. Today, women play an active part in daily working life and
have arrived in all departments of Glashütte Original: Even more than
half of the staff in our assembly department and almost 40% of our
trainees in our watchmaking school are ladies.
